I can see us in the market for at least a couple more conference players next week. Won't be to bad if we're saving some cash for highly rated players but I have a feeling this won't happen I have no confidence with this board
Will be difficult to attract league players I suppose on pernament deals anyway maybe we will see some loan players come in from the league
i doubt that there will be many more non league players that will join us. apart from the trialists that we will get. that will be a bit of a mix. but apart from that we will get much more league players than non league players. just my opinion
jack midson and james constable both joining eastleigh (who just got promoted to conference prem) shows there are players willing to drop from football league to non league
And after magoo chasing Constable all summer, he's now a conference player. May have done us a favour after all
Guarantee we will be knocking on salisburys door again soon Every manager raids there last club for what he sees one for the future I just think if your aim is to go up you have to draft in players from a league higher then your in Just my opinion
completely agree and i expect this to be the case. apart from the trialists we have which is around 7 coming into for 2 weeks trial on 30th june. we may have unearthed a few gems there but i expect signing players who will have a lot of league experience
its now a waiting game. clarke and higgs both have said another player should join near the end of next week and then the rest of the players will be within the last 2 weeks of june.
As long as the players drafted in want to play for the blue and white quarters and not just the wage slip Clarke seems to be strong minded and will not take an ballshit or slacking I just hope he gets it right as we all know there are some very angry gas heads and in fairness they have every right to feel that way This season will be our most important one for a long time Can Clarke become a legend for the blue half of bristol Time will tell
I look at it like this the teams that have been promoted to league 2 had non league players playing for them and they've either stayed in the league or have been promoted again none have gone straight back down so I think we will be ok
Some decent players in the conference compared to some of the one's in league two and even league one. I can remember only a season or so back MA letting players such has Jackman and Essam go to non league clubs either perm or loan. Would rather have them back in my league one side any day compared to some of the rubbish we've had.
How long do league players who drop into the conference keep their rep as league players? We had league players last year and our defence is still pretty much the same..
some that we signed has league experience. from what i have been told, i believe clarke has tried to get in league players but clarke has really struggled to persuade league players in coming down to non league. so he has stuck with what he knows.... his mates from salisbury for example.
Not to sure on players not wanting to play non league Look at Hughes and Parkin at forest green I know there age is against them but surely the money talked Money talks in football always has
Yep but Clarke said he wont pay silly money in getting players in the door offering long contracts. He wants to sign players who wants to be here to fight for Rovers not sit on a 3 year contract earning silly money. I agree with Clarkes stance on this to be honest. Some players dont want non league on their CV and some dont have it in them to work as hard as Clarke says he will work them. Some know they will get offers elsewhere with longer contracts and a team willing to pay more. Players only think of themselves and would rather sit behind a 3 year contract earning an extra £500 a week for a league club than sit behind a 1 year contract earning less money for a conference club who will be demanding a lot from you. Its a no brainer really. But you get the odd player willing to do this. Monkhouse and Mansell for example. Look at Browns loyalty in signing a new contract. Clarke is obviously struggling to find players with the right mentality. Those players are rare to come by these days and sadly you may have to look down the leagues than up to find them.
I have plenty of heart for the rovers Would play for them at the drop of a hat But as I can't hit a horses ass with a banjo I don't think I would be a contender. That said a successful team is a winning team I had to agree with the stopping of the long big pay contracts but it show on the grade of player Unfortunately he who pays big wins
I think we've got a toxic image at the moment. I can't see players queueing up to join us......unless, of course, they're desperate !
