Absolutely ****ing brilliant . . . . and funnier than any of the new stuff, after decades of being first aired 'I'm playing all of the right notes . . . . but not necessarily in the right order' They still bring a lot of sunshine, and they really have 'stood the test of time'
Must have been boring as **** being alive then. If that wad funny. Bang goes the myth of the swinging sixties. And sexy seventies. Yoy were all sat around watching these ****s. Sex. Drugs. Rock and Roll is obviously an urban myth ti keep folks in the swing.
Nowt wrong with Morcambe and Wise Comm, different generations like different things and more so when it was around in their prime, it's good to respect that as I did in the past upset many a WW2 veteran slagging Vera Lynn off.. It was GA's thread that got me like, as though the lad had been teleported back to 1974 or something..
Sorry Joe. But IMO they were ****e. Wad it not you who posted Laurel and Hardy the othet day? Now they bypass the genetations ad they wrre good. Comedy or comedy duos. .not easy
Who Abbott & Costello were good, but they weren't anywhere near as good as both of the aforementioned duos Eric & Ernie were on last night, and it was a much better option than watching the match at The Scrapyard
Even as young lad I never found Morcambe and wise funny. I seem to remember their Xmas shows and everyone was raving about them, they just left me cold...just didn't see what was funny. As mentioned here, The Two Ronnies were a lot funnier IMO. But the daddies..were Laurel and Hardy, all other double acts just ripped them off.
Comedy is subjective, there's loads of people who love Michael Macintyre and Frankie Boyle but I don't think either are remotely interesting or funny. At the same time I can sit howling at Ricky Gervais and people will tell me flat out that he's not funny and he's got nothing on the likes of Bob Monkhouse. Some of the worst comedy for me is Monty Python, which it seems everybody loves apart from me, I personally find it dorky trash.
I like all types of comedy, Morcambe and Wise included. They were a direct influence for Vic and Bob too. Just like in music, timeless greats influence generations and generations to come.
**** off . . . . what a load of ****e Frankie Boyle, like Jimmy Carr, is a **** that thrives on taking the piss out of disabled people (who can't even fight back) . . . . those two should be buried with The Chin, and I wouldn't mind not waiting until they die Ricky Gervais is so boringly unfunny, and I can't bear to watch his 'humour' . . . . he's as funny as Arthur ****ing Askey and Ted ****ing Rogers were, and they were ****e Tommy Cooper, mind . . . . and Norman Wisdom, were brilliant 'one offs' whose type of comedy will never be repeated For 'stand-up' The Big Yin was/is still the best that I've seen p.s. I'm presuming that Billy's post was 'one of those' ones
Morcambe & Wise were about as funny as rabies. I'd rather have my teeth drilled without anesthetic than watch those two old pricks.
