Here's a scenario for you to vent your spleens on - it could happen... Summer 2014, John Terry has been sporadically used by Mourinho through this season and has been told he is not a first choice defender and will play occasionally next season, if he is not happy with that Chelsea will allow him to leave. Harry has always admired him as a player and having just gained promotion sees JT as the ideal leader for the newly promoted QPR and signs him up to lead the R's into their comeback season. What will be the reaction of all concerned? Would you accept it in the same way many said Barton would never be accepted but has won over many of you? Or would JT be the straw that broke the camel's back? I only mention this as I heard this is a distinct possibility as Mourinho, despite what has been said this week, is looking at other central defenders coming in next year...
Not a nice person and not the type of player we should be signing. But if he signed and played well like Barton is doing at the moment then it wouldn't bother me much.
That is an interesting question Soops, but I've never accepted Barton and would never accept Terry. Any other Chelsea player would stand a chance. Lampard, because he is so Chelsea, would have to work hard but I have a sneaky regard for him, but Terry never. The man is despicable, his value as a footballer is irrelevant to me.
not sure what the dilemma is. if there was any talk of terry coming our way Tony would be flooded with so many tweets the club would run a mile. the fact of the matter is we already have two ageing centre backs i cant see us go looking for another
I can, but I think we'd be more likely to go for Ferdinand should the situation arise (as unlikely as it is). By this time next year, though, I hope we're looking more towards Ned and someone like Dawson.
No dilemma here for me. I would want terry playing for us even less than Roller would like a romantic evening out with Barton. There's not many I'd say that about, other than the Marlon Kings of this world.
If it was even suggested I would write to the club and tell them that I would boycott the club until he had gone. This is not just a Scum-thing, when it was suggested that Lampard could sign for us I was well pleased.
He is a complete and utter scumbag, that aside if he is playing his best for us, I'd have him in the team, he has been brilliant for Chelsea and England.
Is Terry really that stupid that he would ever think that he could play for us? Even if he is, his agent must have more sense. However, apart from that, this is surely a non starter. TF wouldn't agree to a £100k per week. Would he?
The 3 answers are: Horror No, and No The latter because we've established over time that fans are completely fickle so if it happened none of us would stop supporting. We're like the sheep in 'Animal Farm' If it happened we'd soon change from '4 legs good 2 legs bad to 4 legs good 2 legs better'.
This question does raise a good point. I think there is a lack of balance and proportion when it comes to different forms of abuse. Barton has physically abused and beaten up people. As far as I know, Terry doesn't go around doing that but he is a ****er and has made a racial slur. So who has done worse? It's obvious that Barton has a more loveable character than him but why is Barton forgiven more easily? I think political correctness has caused this. If I was 75 years old in the future and had committed one of the offences, I recon my children and grandchildren would be more horrified to hear that I verbally assaulted someone racially than to hear that I'd beaten someone up. In this case, are words really worse than physical assault? Or have we been made to react so dramatically to words, specifically those of a racially discriminating nature? And have we been made to have tolerance towards physical violence or even humour towards it?
