you beat me to it! Probably the right decision. We have enough cover for the middle of the park and at least now he can go out and get regular games. Hope he does well
Another move I do not understand! I do not think I have often given a view on Montrose. However, I thought he was in favour with MA, seemed to get selection over Payne and appeared to fit with Mad Dog's way. So although I have no problem with his release can someone explain why it has been decided to loan him out?
You know as much as we do brb! The only rational thing I can think of is that Mad Dog has had a change of heart about Jack Payne and with the signing of Steven Gregory, he was deemed surplus to requirements. I seem to remember he was only a bit part player when Wright was on loan so maybe that is Mad Dog's reasoning.
Martin Allen decided to get Gregory after watching him in the MK v Wimbledon game.. Said he was the best player on the park, won every header, distribution was first class, organised the team superbly! Gutted Monty has gone, but I trust Martin Allen. After all, he knows a damn sight more than me! Im just a humble fan!!
I think maddog has made his mark brb, don't think anyone knows what martin allen's next move is...even paul scally, but i'd say he's making a statement of intent regards players being good enough for our next faze and doing away with numbers that don't shine or are not at that level needed. after time to think, i'm happy with his thought process and glad it's happened lots of those that cast aside were hanging onby there teeth(not making progress). yes at the start of the season Gillingham fc stated that they wanted youth to make the step upand be given it's chance, but now looking at things and hopefully going up a league this year...it's obvious that that youth first team chance will become less with every promotion we gain....basically we will see less coming through. i feel connor essam has a lot to offer as does martin allen...but not at the rate of those in front of him. he has been made available because he see's davies and mckain progressing quicker than essam behind the first choice pair of barrett and legge. these are the decisions he has to make. puzzles me how montrose gets so many more games than jackman yet montrose is loaned out ?...which i think is the right choice, but a shame jackman never got those games ahead of montrose in the first place ! basically we need to push forward with quality not just numbers to keep climbing the leagues and martin allen knows we need to keep improving to gain that success. IN MARTIN ALLEN WE BELIEVE...UTG !!!
Jackman is a great squad player to have, can play multiple positions so would always be kept over someone who can only play one. I also think monty may have requested this if he felt his chances if starting were slipping!
Forgot to add if jackman was a foot taller he'd be straight into the team in one position or another!
Oxford fan in peace. I'm afraid I really don't know much about Lewis Montrose except he's a midfielder and we've signed him on loan for 4 months. Can anyone tell me what type of player he is or whether we've made a good/bad/indifferent signing? Cheers
If I remember correctly he did score in a game which we won 1-0 so he would have looked a great signing, goals change opinions and when you have an instant impact people will say that they are a great signing.
I think the problem with Montrose is that MA has found that there is only space for One Monty is his life, sadly it was not Lewis.
Again another strange decision loaning out Montrose when he has been playing better. Hopefully now Allen will also take Payne off the trasfer list.
Still he was mistake prone so it is a good decision, he is the type of player that can win a game with a touch of class but lose a game on his own with the amount of bad passes that he makes.
If he plays at his best then you have a very good signing but he will pull out a good game rarely unfortunately.in a standard game he will often lose more balls than he will win
That just about nails it for me too. Frustrating is probably the best way to describe him. On his day a quality midfielder, but just a bit too mistake prone (and mistakes in important situations) for my overall liking.
Makes less mistakes than Payne? NO way plus when Payne plays everything goes through him therefore he will misplace some passes. I bet Payne makes the most passes in a game and makes the most tackles from midfield.
