It came into the conversation that Sunderland had not won a trophy since 1973, and Monty just pointed out that it is 4 years longer for the Mags...

Field Marshal Montgomery and operation market garden in WWII (he is taking the piss)

Funnily enough my Grandad (RIP) was a para and went to Arnham when all the **** was going down, he got the Military Medal and the Freedom of Norway (for another battle i would presume as Arnham is in Holland lol), he never ever talked about it though, but i have read snippets of what he done, he was the signalman and had to keep the cable up from one side of the road to the other, and took shots left right and center, he spotted a German sniper whilst he was doing it, outflanked him and killed him. But thats all i can find, scary times though, the film A bridge to far is all about it (Arnham anyway, not what my grandad done)

my dad fought at Arnhem, took me there every year for remembrance day, got to love the Nederlands, every time that movie came on the tele about it, he used to throw his shoes at the tele shouting bullshit that's not what happened. he also kept pushing me to join, so i did eventually.
