So what are your thoughts guys? Details seems pretty hazy at this stage, hopefully form won't be affected. http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/30489499
If the judge permits the prosecution to move forward it reads like he is going to be part of the indictment. Who's to say at this point what's going to happen.
Not so sure. The article reports that the pay-offs were blanket to the whole of Montero's team by the opposition players. Who's to say at this point whether he accepted or declined - if he declined it's going to be his word versus another's who may be incentivised to invent to gain leniency.
What's the big deal ? Ref's fix matches all the time - it's the only possible way to explain some of their decisions. They seem to get away with it without any fuss.
Not sure declining will be enough. Isn't it laid down somewhere that any suggestions of match-fixing should be reported or one is considered part of the conspiracy? I seem to recall something in cricket related to this but maybe rules etc. are different. Then again, this whole sport is ruled by FIFA so it must be OK!!!!
there is a number of players involved so lets see what the outcome is first and what can be proved. should any player get convicted then i hope they get banned from playing for between 3-5 years. nobody wants cheats of the match fixing category playing for them.....
I am confused by the report, it states Montero is named but his involvement is not documented. Are they naming everyone at the two clubs but focusing on those who were actually approached? This is big news so I think it is a bit silly to give so little and still cryptic messages.
I remember reading up about this some time back and concluded that he had little to answer......................
