Garry Monk faces uncertain future at Swansea despite the potential of earning a £500,000 bonus
Swansea manager has not been given any assurances about his long-term future at the club despite steering the club away from the relegation zone
Garry Monk could earn £500,000 bonus and still lose Swansea job

Garry Monk will earn up to £500,000 in bonuses if he keeps Swansea City in the Premier League, but has not been given any assurances about his long-term future at the club.
Despite taking over from sacked Michael Laudrup a month ago, Monk had still been operating on his playing contract at the Liberty Stadium.
Having guided Swansea to five points from their last four Premier League games, Monk has now seen his contract amended by chairman Huw Jenkins to reflect the fact he is managing the team.
Much of Monk’s new deal is incentive-based, with the 34-year-old in line to bank £500,000 if Swansea stay in the Premier League.
Laudrup would have been due £1 million for keeping Swansea up this season and it is understood the Dane wants that figure reflected in his compensation package that is yet to be agreed.

Swansea were put through a gruelling schedule of seven games in Monk’s first month in charge, which included a Europa League tie against Napoli. Even though they were knocked out, the performance against the Italians was a cause of great optimism for the club.
Monk now has 10 Premier League games to try to secure his £500,000 bonus and try to convince Jenkins to give him the manager’s job on a *permanent basis.
Swansea are 14th in the table, five points ahead of the relegation zone, and face West Bromwich Albion next on March 15.
The Swansea players and fans are behind Monk and the former Southampton defender has plenty of support within the Liberty Stadium boardroom. But his position will be reviewed at the end of the season, when Jenkins may also be able to check whether Everton assistant Graeme Jones would be interested in a return to Swansea.

Well we know this is lies as apparently he already has the job <whistle>

I wonder what a Graeme Jones and Monk partnership would look like. Not a lot of experience between the two.

Graeme jones again? Ffs like !

Monk may not be manager in the summer but he will be a good coach here and that IMO is pretty much written in stone.

The only problem I see is a potentially toxic one in terms of what a new manager may think about monks influence with Jenkins.

This would make him a dangerous assistant to have and one where's ot of potential coaches may want to stay clear of.

With those two at the helm, I'd be happy with that provided they appointed somebody with experience to be director of football, otherwise it will be a bloody huge gamble to take.

Regarding Monks future, I can see him coaching in the summer once we get a new manager in. If his time as a manager has given him the drive to head his career full time that way then maybe he will be keeping his eye out for a job opening in the lower divisions then maybe in a few years he will be ready for the prem. At this point in time I see Swansea in its best position to get a top class manager in, it will be our 4th season in the prem so I guess we can call ourselves a established prem side. Hopefully we will get a manager who can add to our philosophy.

The bottom half of the table is so tight that we shouldn't really judge Garry Monk based on moving up or down a few places since Michael Laudrup's sacking.

The biggest improvement has been in the professional and enthusiastic attitude of the players on the pitch, with both Napoli games and the Liverpool game being obvious examples of this.

The result against Crystal Palace could be blamed on fatigue but ultimately it was a lack of goal-scoring threat. Wilfried Bony has had a lot of pressure put on him due to Michu's injury and the fact we play a lone striker, therefore somebody needs to step up and lighten the burden a bit. De Guzman has been fantastic in the past few games at supporting Bony but we should have probably brought in a more accomplished striker than Emnes or N'gog in January.

    Probably?

We had Vazquez ..... we sent Donnelly off to Coventry (without any regard for the setup up there) .... and we augmented with Lita, Ngog and Emnes .... Prem center backs are laughing so hard I can hear them over here.

Dai cut the patronising posts at everyone. I've repeatedly asked over the past few days for these posts to stop. Keep this up and everyone will be laughing at you as you'll be banned. Final warning.

He's supposedly off to the States shortly for his annual visit so banning him would be a waste of time.

To be fair to Dai, the post immediately before yours was just him answering a question someone asked. I took it as a humorous reply. Because it's Dai, too many people take things he says the wrong way. Such delicate flowers on here.
