You cant watch a championship league match these days without hearing monkey chants when a British teams black player has the ball. I find it absolutely disgusting, so what it must feel for the player i dont know. I have tried to think of a way to stop these chants without punishing the fans club as i want the best club to win. but the way i see it the only way is to ban these clubs who's fans commit unnecessary monkey chants and wave bananas about, Its not just one or two there was thousands doing it so for the police to act is virtually impossible....how would you deal with this problem?

The authorities pay lip service to racism, Dai. We all know this. The only way to stop it is to forget about fines that mean nothing at all but to play matches behind closed doors on the home leg. Further transgressions after the crowds are allowed back should be punished with a European ban for a season. Any after that, 5 seasons, and then for life.

    I think that'll end it.

I presume you mean champions league Dai ?

But you are right though, it's the 21st century and we still have morons like that walking the planet. Absolutely disgusting, forget fines ban them from Europe instead. They'll soon stop doing it.

Britain has progressed at a far faster rate than the rest of Europe. IT is up to Mr Blatter to sort out.

small fines do nothing, we know that.... but if you start deducting points and playing matches behind closed doors why should the team / good fans be disadvantaged by a few thug supporters?

in this country we have a very tolerant attitude, and any racism is come down on like a tonne of bricks, righltly so, but it seems to be more of a problem in europe where they still have antiquated attitudes towards racism..... even spain has a racism problem...

not helped by some ludicrous blatter quotes which bonymaen picks out...

and that world cups have been awarded to russia and quatar, who both have to modernise their views on racism and homosexuality...<ok>

I think it was the Lazio fans last night at spurs

If you ban the team you're hurting the good fans too, but then maybe some of the responsibility lies with them to help stamp it out. I'm pretty confident that it wouldn't be tolerated by our decent fans if we had a rebel few doing it

Don't run away with the idea that Europe has a monopoly on racism.

Having lived in sub-Saharan( Black)Africa, for very many years,I can confirm that racism,Black on White, which I experienced on a daily basis, and more surprisingly Black on Black, which I witnessed on a daily basis,is very much in evidence,in fact it's rampant.

When it gets to the point when the racists who are attempting to belittle a player , are belittled themselves by the majority of the other fans , can success be celebrated . The " Good Fans " can do tenfold more than Blatter & him alike !...

I think that clubs that don't tackle the problem should have points deducted. Clubs should put effort into finding and banning these idiots. But I think many clubs just don't care. Clubs could do something about it if they really wanted to. A points deduction would focus their minds. Most regular fans know who these idiots are, so they should film them and hand in the evidence to the clubs/police. It's easy enough for the police to pick these people up later, but I don't think the police really care either.

Looks like UEFA are staring an investigation into Lazio's fans behavior, based on reports from the officials. It will be interesting to see what comes of this.
