A bad result at Villa Park could result in the dismissal of Garry Monk. To think it can't is not facing the truth. To make matters even worse , if he does lose this game to Aston Villa , what are the chances of any shown interest from Aston Villa toward him remaining. At the same time , he could put together a few good games to make it all go away, but make no bones about it , this Villa game is massive to Monk's career Worse case scenario , he loses , gets shown the door , Villa's door shuts and no others ever open again in top flight. Best case scenario , he wins , shows a good effort against Arsenal and get back on track as Christmas shows up. This is a bigger game for Monk , than it is for Swansea ...Hoping for the best case scenario but believe the worst case scenario exists next game...Hope he can weather it.
The press have been quick to pick up on this , hopefully by 5 o'clock Saturday they'll be talking about Sherwood's demise rather than Monks. Fingers crossed
I can't disagree that this is a huge game for both managers but I'll be surprised if Monk isn't given more time even if we lose, though the only thing that may swing it is a really heavy defeat. Whether that would be deserved or not is a separate question. Then again, I didn't see Laudrup getting the push quite so soon so who knows?
I don't see us losing as the end for Monk. However a loss to Villa could be enough to make Huw etc start to doubt Monk, not to mention the added pressure it would heap on him. We went through a patch like this in January if I remember right. I expect Monk to be able to sort the current situation out . However if we are still discussing these levels of performances and results in 6-7 games time, then it might be time for a change.
Another reason I see Monk on thin ice so quickly is the sudden availability of one Brendan Rodgers. And I'm not saying that Monk will be let go with a bad result , only that it's as possible as not
Monk is so far from thin ice that its bonkers to think he will ever get the sack at this stage of the season......It wont happen his job and his ability has not been questioned and still wont if we lose at villa...
Is that another " Take your word for it " dai...lol....well then again , I'll pass ,, nothing personal buddy
Yes things have not gone right for us for a few games but tell me what team does not go through this. Look at Chelsea for a good example ....Should they sack Jose who is regarded as one of the best managers in the modern game ? Of course not. And the club wont sack or even contemplate sacking monk just because of a few bad games. His achievements out weigh his first blip in management and it's how he is going to solve it we should be talking about and not sacking a fine young manager tipped to manage England one day by his peers.......If it was to carry on for a while then yes his job will be at risk but come on not yet after a few games that have not gone to plan for whatever reason. He needs support not slagging off as his record since he took over has out weighed this little blip of form. KTF monk is a very good manager who will work hard getting us back on track....
No comment toward your post dai , but I will say this.I personally think no matter who Monk picks to play this game, we should win it .Only in the team he picks , lies by how much we win by.I say that because when the entire team is lacing up their boots , there will be a lot of soul searching in every player and a team focus to shake this string of not great games.Unlike you though , I could be wrong .A lot of betting people seem to agree that a Garry Monk exit , is definitley a possibility.
What happened to Monk being on a mission to challenge for top 6 and him being one of the best young managers in the game? I know your form has been a disappointment, but I would be amazed if your chairman has even considered sacking Monk. Surely its laughable to even suggest he is in danger of losing his job? at this stage of the season anyway.
Well I'm so confident of winning tomorrow I'd bet my house on it....but the fact remains , I could lose my house. Now for all intents and purposes , let's say we lose tomorrow. We will have lost 4 of the last 6 without a win.Over an entire season at that rate , we would end up with 13 points from 38 games,Derby would certainly be happy .Now within those 6 games , none are against a top 5 teams.During those 6 games Monk has a totally healthy team , so much so that 2 players Monk brought in valued at almost 9 million , are still in the crate , unused. Now I'd compare such a run of games not so different to a past manager , although the past manager had tougher teams to play with a slew of injuries and a more brisk pace of games ....but I won't because it will probably get vetch going. Monk has been pampered to this point , but with a loss to villa , I can't imagine that pampering continuing nor should it.
Pampered? You mean praised for saving you from relegation and taking you to your highest premier league finish? while having the team play attractive football. Lucky for you that would never happen, although I'm sure you would have been delighted if you took your form from the first 4 games, averaged that out over the season and it became reality. Its obvious there are Swansea fans hoping for Monk to fail, to the point they appear more passionate about Monk failing then Swansea winning. I have seen this happen with my club when AVB was here, fans wanting us to lose so he would be fired. All I know, is that if Monk does indeed manage you to a defeat against Villa, he won't be sacked and unless he goes on a truly horrific run of results over 12 league games, then I don't expect your chairman to start doubting his ability as manager.
There is so much I could say to you boss , on the subject but it's a long time past.I hope Garry Monk wins every game from here , no question, but he'd better get started soon with the great band of players that was given him .
I'm sure you would agree that this premier league season is the most unpredictable season since its formation. You as a Swansea fan will only care about your teams success/failures, but you have to consider the quality of other teams, never before have we seen smaller clubs with such quality players. We have Palace/Leicester/West Ham performing to a high level. Stoke signing players such as Shaqiri, while West Brom have that world class welsh manager Pulis. This could be one of the closest premier league seasons to date and your teams form will pick up, while other teams form will drop, I'm certain of that, thats one of the reasons why teams mid/lower table have to not panic at a bad run of form, especially when they have a talented squad/manager.
