I bet you Garry is , this will say a lot if Routledge signs this extention . He was very eager to sign his last contract under another manager , much like Michu's last contract .iI'l feel a whole lot better if Routledges contract goes beyond 2016 .

Either that or one more chance at big money, elsewhere , as real talent has finally come to fruition.More importantly , Monk has brought up his contract ... why ? Anyone seen Routledge around , is he in the USA ?.All the problems have been with the Spanish players so far , an extension signed here would be a big one from Wayne , if not and it opens another front imo

Yes hes in the us, why would he leave? As I say hes got 2 years on his contract, no one is going to offer him anything , hes played the best football of his career with us, hes respected as a player with us, he really isnt going anywhere, jesus were on about extending not him looking to go anywhere!!

Some fans are not really fans though. they are itching for monk to fail <doh> At least we gave laudrup 100% support when he took over and he himself lost the majority of fans and the players all by himself. Monk has rescued us and so far is doing a fantastic job and that will continue for as long as we dont do what i call a laudrup and fail miserably.

You wanted Rodgers to fail from the start....then you wanted Laudrup to fail about a month or 2 into Laudrup's second season, despite him delivering our only ever trophy (which you don't give him any credit for), that's all the time he was afforded by you...also, you have stated that you have given up your seat and won't be "giving the club anymore of my money". You are a sorry excuse of a fan.

I and others on the other hand do not want Monk to fail but we do have misgivings.

I could be proved wrong but, at his age, Routs will be desperate to sign a new contract that will give him security for most of the rest of his playing days. I would be very surprised if he doesn't sign. If he doesn't then it will mean he has something better lined up. Simple as that for me.

I expect Routledge to dabble in his options Ivor , a lot of managers witnessed first hand the quality of Routledges improved ability .I will be over the moon if he extends , I will be unsurprized if he doesnt ., I will breath a sigh of relieve if he runs out on the pitch to start the season with us .

It's kind of interesting that monk wants to extend Routledge's contract when more than half of the teams gk's and def are on contracts that expire within the next 24 months. ex (Taylor, Rangel, Tiendalli, Jazz, Chico, Tate, Vorm & Tremmel)... and there is talk about sell Ben...

Wingers usually decline quite sharply into their 30's.
Routledge has lots of ability however, the only other place I could see him playing when his pace goes is the no. 10 role.
    Hope he can adapt.
