I wonder if Sam / Langston will go back to trying to play hardball now we are promoted. They may have been willing to cut a deal before when they thought we may go into admin. Be interesting to see how that pans out. I would also think that we would be able to secure some reasonable stadium naming rights with promotion as well. Someone should be interested. I wonder how much of the promotion money will really go into the club. VT will expect something back. Loans need to be cleared. Financial discussions have disappeared since VT took over, but there will be a lot of interesting variables at play. Also how is the TV money handed out to clubs? Lump sum, or broken up into smaller multiple payments? I would love to see us throw even more money at the academy. Really find as many as the best youth talent that we can in the UK and train them to the highest level. I mean if we could add just one youth player a season to our starting line up, one to our bench, as well as picking up nice profits in selling off others, we will have a strong squad and a regular revenue stream.
I was thinking the same thing about stadium naming rights Siam. If we got a good wadge for that I believe it goes to Langstone, or at least a good part of it. That being the case, does that come off the loan money to be repaid? We really need to get rid of Langstone to enable VT to capitalise much of his loans and get our balance sheet in good order. That will put us in a good place for the financial fair play rules.
For sure Blue. I had the FFP in mind when I was thinking of all this. It is very tricky to predict finances in football, but I would hope that with promotion (and even at the worst the rather large parachute payments) that we will never get in that rater rocky position again!!
Various reports say Sam the Scam is due the stadium naming rights money up to £9m. If that is true I hope we do a first season deal for a pound.
