    Sawpit Samba 12/1

One for a small bet only but I think this lightly raced 8 year old is interesting on his first start for David Bridgwater off a lowly mark of 95. Formerly with Venetia Williams, Sawpit Samba built on a Novicey debut to run a very promising 3rd over 17f at Hereford back in January 2012 when shaping as if a step up in trip would suit as he finished 11L behind the winner. He was disappointing on handicap debut off a mark of 97 at Huntingdon over 22f last April when pulled up but I thought he shaped with a lot more promise on his final start for Williams. Off a mark of 96 in first time blinkers, Sawpit Samba ran well for a very long way and was still leading coming into the home straight but he weakened very, very quickly after 3 out and I suspect something went wrong with him as he was barely able to get over 2 out. He's now moved on to David Bridgwater (same ownership) and with only 4 runs to date he certainly is very unexposed. In his recent stable tour, David Bridgwater stated he "could be very interesting off a mark of 95" and there has already been a bit of money around for him. He runs here on the back of a 317 day absence and although he may need the run I certainly think he's worth risking given how weak a contest this is. Tommy Phelan takes the ride over the extended 2m3f trip and Bridgwater's excellent stable form is certainly a big positive about this ones chances. Although quite risky, he's certainly worth a small dabble and hopefully the change of scenery can land this poor looking contest.

Capellini- in the last at plumpton, may be worth a small interest, reckon he will attempt to make all, and after nearly doing that over 2m 4f at leicester in a seller before xmas, may well get away with it round a nippy track like plumpton., the ground was heavy that day, so the softer conditions may be more suitable, coupled with stable having a winner yesterday, a good claimer aboard , heres hoping for a decent priced winner.

    Help required please:

I have not paid a lot of attention to the Festival Handicap Chase, 3rd race tomorrow so I was wondering if anyone had any strong opinions in this race? I have already found the winners of the other 26 races but need a bit of help solving this one, cheers ;)

looks to be a good competitive renewal that one tomorrow - If McCoy is riding Nadiya de la Vega I think that horse will come very close.

for me the festival is now up and running - just been reading the preview section in the Racing Post with a breakfast in my local cafe. Was so excited I put sugar on my fried egg instead of salt!

well that was what I would have backed.
ok back to square one then. Champagne Fever or Puffin Billy as the alternatives to MTOY.

Only 12 runners for the Supreme - doesn't make it any easier to find the winner though!!

Oddy, take a look at White Star Line in the first handicap, am I bonkers for noting him as a likely sort?

If you look at his 2nd to Hunt Ball last year Nass it reads very well and we know Dessie can get one ready for the festival. His mark seems OK , but only OK - I think there might be a few better-handicapped ones in the field.

Looks a very fair shout that imo Nass. Was just looking at that race, trying to work out if Monbeg Dude get's another peach from Carberry if he's still on a reasonable mark.

Supreme has cut up badly, doesn't look that exciting a race, looks a race lacking depth now. The fun of this race is that you can make a case for 8+ horses. That's no longer the case, <applause> to Skybet for still going 4 places, I would imagine Hills will do something similar when they reopen their book.

Should be updated by now (iphone app is).

I also admit that I am mightily tempted by the dentists horse in the last, he looked a classy horse on his penultimate run and conditions should suit.

Shame about the dead weight he is carrying <laugh>

Monbeg Dude not in it. Final decs now up on Sporting Life.

Nass - what are those Tizzard's up to in the JLT - Joe rides Hey Big Spender but look down at the bottom of the card - Brendan Powell claiming 3 on Golden Chieftain, putting him effectively on 129. He hosed up off 127 at Worcester earlier in the season and fnished 3rd to Unioniste off 138 in the Paul Stewart race, and won't mind the juicy surface. Very interesting.
