Today brings us 5 stakes races from Woodbine, cyc asked me what i thought of the races, so these are my opinions. Race 5 Jade Prince out run in first race, but with lasix added in the next won by 6l. Last workout 1.00 in a positive manner Race 6 Cryptonite Kid 3 time winner on turf, first start since July 3rd goes well fresh, Slade Callaghan rides today Race 7 Sapphire Star scooted away at 5f last time out noiw stretching the distance but has worked out well with a1.00 Race 8 Tee game has tried turf 3 times with 2 good results she won a route on turf last time out in a middle claimer she also won 2 times on poly track Race 9 Hippolytus was runner up to Ingloriuos in the Queens Plate Ojibway Signal now won 2 in a row in the Ontario sire series, has looked strong in the stretch both times while extending his stride. Up in class Of course all should keep and eye on Husbands and Conteras mounts today, especially Conteras outsiders. Hope this helps cyc
When I've had a look at Woodbine in the past Islander, I've managed, by pure luck, to get some of it sorted. But this time it's really difficult. I ended up with Memlo Castle in the first of the big ones, race 5, but only because Husbands seems to have the pick of the three Biamonte runners. In the second of the big races, race 7, Notaclouninthesky looks the one to beat, but he's pretty short. The tote there can pay better than expected sometimes, so maybe he's wort a punt. I thought the unraced Holy Wine worked ok as did On We Go. Either of these two could run into the money at a nice price. Thanks for the input mate. Variety is what this site needs, and thanks to you, we have it in spades.
Any news on what they will be doing with Inglorious mate? She looks like something really special. She seems to have come on in leaps and bounds in her latest campaign. I'd like to see her go to the UK. Won't happen of course, but she'd put the cat among the pigeons.
Cyc Inglorious got hammered in the Alabama stakes a few weeks ago came last, may have picked up an injury,i have not heard what is happening or if she did get hurt. I will ask some of the old timers down at the track later
Last? Amazing. It's hard to believe on what she did against the colts in the Plate. I've just had a look at the Alabama mate. Inglorious went a half mile and stopped. She was a shadow of herself.
Don't forget about Conteras, has not had to many winners of late but the ones he has rode in have been good priced . The weather has been a factor over the last few day very hot with a high humidity index, some horses yesterday were being hosed down in the parade ring to keep them cool. And as usual the turf track keeps giving up big priced winners . Re inglorious , i think the track was sloppy that day. You guys have some big races coming up this month. What are they going to do about the closure of the grandstand, are they going to relocate the race meet elsewhere
Huge story Islander. Seems the troubles came to light when engineers began preperation for the $150,000,000 reconstruction. Worst case senario will see the races moved to either Warwick Farm or Rosehill.
Why don't you have a thread on the trotters. That would provide some more variation and some of us might find it interesting.
Maybe for the million dollar races or big events.I think 99% of members would laugh at Harness racing and probably rate it lower than the donkey's on blackpool beach. If your interested. www.standardbredcanada.ca is a good site for harness racing in Canada and down in the US.
Cyc Holy wine came third paid $13.10 Tee game came second paid $14.40 place $6.40 show Race for gold came third paid $3.10 show Memlo Castle won paid $10.10 win $ 5.10 place $ 3.80 show Hypolytus came second paid $ 4.30 place $2;70 show A very hard day to pick winners in the stakes races, winners paid as follows Race4 $20.10 Race5 $10.10 Race6 $150.10 Race7 $8.60 Race8 $48.90 Race9 $28.10
Islanderpei: Here's one who does not laugh at harness racing; it's a great sport. Only trotting in France, Germany, Holland, Sweden, etc., as the pace gait is not allowed. Never did like the hobbles much in paceing, but Cyclonic told me it's pretty harmless. Probably a slightly faster gait? Used to be a regular to the trotting races once, but it has gone downhill a bit here over the past 20-years or so due Europe-wide thoroughbred racing being available to everyone on TV/Internet. Still very popular though up north and in Sweden and France. Glad to have seen two great champion trotters years ago, namely, Ideal du Gazeau and Jorky. Last to first in the blink of an eyelid, both of them! Ouasi was a great trotter too but never saw him. Vincennes is still HQ for harness racing in Europe, and it will go on for ever................... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=slrhKE8Qbqo (probably the best one, Ideal du Gazeau just from Jorky). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9fmLrZzZXk4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xr7mb9E2Mo8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RuaWSPumnP8
Island: Ron is right mate, you'll be surprised at how many will comment on harness racing! Stop worrying about the negative writers dude as Ron will surely delete them if they are negatory comments. If people don't like or want to learn about harness racing they don't have to read the thread mate I say 'give it a go' and just watch for the positive vibes obviously your call though
Looks like a nice fruitful day Islander. Top shout with Tee game mate. The way things are going, the average UK punter will desert the local product and become Woodbine fans. Onya for the Inter DT.
Reddeer and others, if you have news or info from the racing in your part of the world ,or big races/events feel free to start an international thread for all to read.I will try and keep the Canada side of things going, but it would be more interesting if we got views from members on the racing scene in their own locals.
