Racing today is from Musselburgh, Plumpton, Lingfield Park, and Cagnes-Sur-Mer.

Musselburgh has been passed fit for racing after early morning inspection.

Only one I have backed today is in the first at Musselburgh - Bob Will (4/1) - seems to have a fair chance for the C.Grant/A.Voy trainer/jockey team.

    Best of luck today everyone!

    Morning Swanny <ok>

Cracking little meeting at Plumpton today - most uplifting for a Monday. The opening Novices Hurdle has some decent ex-flat sorts including Trip The Light, a Fantastic Light gelding who finished a highly respectable 3rd on hurdles debut before falling last time on unsuitably firm going. Has the champ in the plate today and can hopefully get his head in front. Not a race I will be betting on though as there are some useful looking types here, definitely one to watch with the old notebook in hand.

Race of the day is the Novices Chase at 1.10 where Tony Martin sends Gift Of Dgab (NAP) over from Ireland and I fancy the Gigginstown Stud colours to be in the winners enclosure once again. He was imperious on chase debut and clearly they are not just coming over for the sea air. This is no one horse race though and Invictus jumped beautifully on debut, and Paul Nicholls runner Indian Daudaie was very smart over hurdles and warrants upmost respect in receipt of weight.

Morning all copied this over from my refugees post last night

1.10 Plumpton INDIAN DAUDAIE 11/4 Forecast Price - Backed at 11/4 (BOG)

Was the pick of these over hurdles and looks a very interesting recruit to chasing for the Paul Nicholls stable. Although disappointing on his comeback having been well backed he travelled well for a long way and may well have needed the outing. This horse was a fine 4th in the Martin Pipe behind Sir Des Champs last season and was staying on at Aintree in a decent race when falling 2 out. Invictus was nothing special over hurdles and was battered by Maringo Bay who runs in this as well (20 lengths and better off at the weights). Invictus has the scope to do much better over fences but beat nothing on his fencing debut as Doeslessthanme fell at the 10th (main danger) before the race had got going. Gift Of Dgab was an impressive winner on his chasing debut also but this is not easy under a penalty and he faces better rivals today. Indian Daudaie is only a 4yo and receives that allowance from rivals he may well outclass and gets a stone from his 2 form book rivals. I think he should make a winning debut over fences here.

2.20 Musselburgh - CHESTER LAD 5/2 Forecast price Backed at 11/4 (BOG)

I am really interested in Chester Lad on his second start for the Donald McCain yard. Stick put this one up last Sunday and I still can't believe he didn't win. His jockey Jason Maguire kicked on plenty early enough and this may have cost him the race that and a poor jump at the last. He runs tomorrow from the same mark (115) and the step up to 2m4f shouldn't be a problem. He remains 1lbs lower than his last winning mark and for me this is a well handicapped horse. I will be happy if I can get the 5/2 forecast price but I am still willing to back him at anything above even money. This horse was rated 130 at his highest and I really fancy him to get off the mark for current connections tomorrow.

    HOW TO START A FIGHT

One year, I decided to buy my mother-in-law a cemetery plot as a Christmas gift...The next year, I didn't buy her a gift. When she asked me why, I replied, "Well, you still haven't used the gift I bought you last year!"And that's how the fight started....

My wife and I were watching Who Wants To Be A Millionaire while we were in bed. I turned to her and said, 'Do you want to have Sex?''No,' she answered. I then said,' Is that your final answer?'She didn't even look at me this time, simply saying, 'Yes..'So I said, "Then I'd like to phone a friend."And that's when the fight started...

I took my wife to a restaurant. The waiter, for some reason, took my order first."I'll have the rump steak, rare, please."He said, "Aren't you worried about the mad cow?""Nah, she can order for herself."And that's when the fight started.....

My wife and I were sitting at a table at her high school reunion, and she kept staring at a drunken man swigging his drink as he sat alone at a nearby table. I asked her, "Do you know him?""Yes", she sighed, "He's my old boyfriend. I understand he took to drinking right after we split up those many years ago, and I hear he hasn't been sober since.""My God!" I said, "Who would think a person could go on celebrating that long?"And then the fight started...

When our lawn mower broke and wouldn't run, my wife kept hinting to me that I should get it fixed. But, somehow I always had something else to take care of first, the shed, the boat, making beer.. Always something more important to me. Finally she thought of a clever way to make her point. When I arrived home one day, I found her seated in the tall grass, busily snipping away with a tiny pair of sewing scissors. I watched silently for a short time and then went into the house. I was gone only a minute, and when I came out again I handed her a toothbrush. I said, "When you finish cutting the grass, you might as well sweep the driveway."The doctors say I will walk again, but I will always have a limp.

My wife sat down next to me as I was flipping channels. She asked, "What's on TV?"I said, "Dust."And then the fight started...

Saturday morning I got up early, quietly dressed, made my lunch, and slipped quietly into the garage. I hooked up the boat up to the van and proceeded to back out into a torrential downpour. The wind was blowing 50mph, so I pulled back into the garage, turned on the radio, and discovered that the weather would be bad all day.I went back into the house, quietly undressed, and slipped back into bed. I cuddled up to my wife's back; now with a different anticipation, and whispered, "The weather out there is terrible."My loving wife of 5 years replied, "And, can you believe my stupid husband is out fishing in that?"And that's how the fight started...

My wife was hinting about what she wanted for our upcoming anniversary. She said, "I want something shiny that goes from 0 to 150 in about 3 seconds."I bought her a bathroom scale. And then the fight started.....

After retiring, I went to the Social Security office to apply for Social Security. The woman behind the counter asked me for my driver's License to verify my age. I looked in my pockets and realized I had left my wallet at home. I told the woman that I was very sorry, but I would have to go home and come back later. The woman said, 'Unbutton your shirt'. So I opened my shirt revealing my curly silver hair. She said, 'That silver hair on your chest is proof enough for me' and she processed my Social Security application. When I got home, I excitedly told my wife about my experience at the Social Security office. She said, 'You should have dropped your pants. You might have gotten disability too. 'And then the fight started...

My wife was standing nude, looking in the bedroom mirror. She was not happy with what she saw and said to me, "I feel horrible; I look old, fat and ugly. I really need you to pay me a compliment. 'I replied, "Your eyesight's damn near perfect."And then the fight started.......

I rear-ended a car this morning...the start of a REALLY bad day! The driver got out of the other car, and he was a DWARF!! He looked up at me and said 'I am NOT Happy!' So I said, 'Well, which one ARE you then?' That's how the fight started.

Swanny your mate Chris Grant has another interesting looking runner at Musselburgh in the shape of Beaumomt's Party in the 12.50. This one touched the dizzy heights of a 94 rating on the flat with Andrew Balding, finishing 6 lengths behind Taqleed in a class 2 handicap at Newbury mid-September. If his schooling has gone well he looks sure to be a big player here and it looks like he has come in for some early support (15/8 fav)

    From Sporting Life:

"Hexham are keeping a close check on the weather forecast after snow hit the North of England on Sunday evening.

The course are due to host a seven race card on Wednesday afternoon but clerk of the course James Armstrong reported there to be 1.5 inches of snow on the track on Monday morning.

Wintry showers are forecast on Monday evening and on Tuesday although daytime temperatures are forecast to rise above freezing."

    Sounds grim <yikes>

Love the bit where they are in the middle of nowhere and they want to cross the road to get to the gas station. Harold waits for the "walk" signal and Kumar calls him a pussy and says there's no one around for miles. So Harold steps on to the street and immediately the copy pull up and book him <laugh>

Morning all. So how good was Sizing Europe on Saturday then? If he turns up in anything like his best at Cheltenham it's hard to see anything beating him. I love the trainer as well - alwasys very honest about his horses' chances and seems to come across as a decent bloke - that'll be the Waterford influence of course <whistle>

Just one for today - really fancy Mavalenta's chaces in the 1-40 at Plumpton.

Only danger at this stage looks like being Big Zeb Chippy, but even that doesn't look a real live danger as he was comprehensively beaten last time on his supposed favoured ground. With Master Minded and Big Zeb looking past their best over 2 miles it does seem the division could use some fresh blood. Finian's Rainbow maybe? Perhaps Starluck? (not sure where they are with him at the moment) Realt Dubh? You wouldn't really fancy any of those to challenge Sizing Europe at the moment and it really could be a case of him sweeping the board this season and maybe a couple of this season's exciting novices giving him more to think about next season.

Totally agree with all of that oddy. I really like some of last year's novices (Noble Prince in particular) but I couldn't see them laying a glove on Sizing this year. I think it's going to be a case of seeing how they do in 2012 with a viuew to really challenging in 2013. The division really could do with some exciting fresh blood but with the quality of the novices this year i think it's in safe hands. I genuinely hope so as for me John Francome got it right on Saturday - there's no better sight in national hunt than a really good 2 mile chase.
