Right taking a 45 rated horse in a handicap where the nearest to it in the marks is 57 might not seem a sensible idea but I think this horse might just help send Mark Brisbourne into retirement on a big price winner.

This horse ran well last time out, finishing well from off the pace and I think he can back it up off this basement mark again. He should get a fair pace to run against and I think he will be much better than his price.

He’s also well handicapped on old form, so it’s not as if he hasn’t shown capability in the past to win a race like this.

just noticed he controls the handicap in that race with the top and bottom weight nass , is he retiring today or just soon ?

Last few hours that ‘Oddschecker’ will be dominated by odds on the old horses and football for a while, team. ‘Love Island’ will be the main feature for several weeks from 9 pm tonight…

Today. These are his last two runners.
His yard is owned by the Earl Of Bradford who is kicking him out to build houses on the site instead.

Clive Clifton...what a lovely name for a gelding.

I see though that just 5 houses will be built on the site. This begs the question will these be very big houses or does the old boy train out of a very small stable?!?

Will be disappointed if Stone Circle doesn’t run a prominent race at Windsor.

Yard juvenile form has been scintillating this season but the market is definitely not screaming in this ones favour. I like the Johnston runner ETON COLLEGE. He does well with his 2yo's here. He would be quite a topical winner too as the rowing lake at Dorney is almost adjacent to the 6f start at Windsor. For the uneducated this is owned by Eton College and is where future prime ministers do their rowing.

Thank heavens for Ballard Down, no idea how it won after that start but has certainly saved me from looking a right mug this evening.

Great Bear is entered at Haydock on Saturday in a race I can only assume was named after Quasimodo.

The jauntily named "Heed Your Hunch Handicap" opens the meeting and Great Bear is generally 5/1 favourite on the early betting for the race. I suppose with a name like that the race could only be a Handicap but whether Great Bear will come there swinging and manage to hump the weight is another matter.

I thought you might be interested in the once Derby entered colt.

Is also in at Newmarket on the same day. No idea which one (if either) Great Bear will go for but the Haydock one that you mention is worth the most.

You would have to wonder if the plan is to secure a ratings increase this weekend and then head to the Royal meeting 12 days later for the ‘King George V Handicap’. I may have mentioned that race a few times in the past!
