Morning

3.25 Hamilton-Grimsdyke @ 9-4 [Bet 365]

No obvious reason why he cannot win again

Hello, everyone. My heart is somewhat distressed to see that dear old Newton Abbot has ‘gorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrn’. Mother Nature, you cruel mistress, hang your head in shame.

My regular readers will be further pained to learn that I was going to tip one in the selling hurdle as well. Please try to hide your disappointment stoically.

Not a great start to the week but onwards and upwards, onward and upwards…

9/1 4 places at PP (edited)

Acclaim the nation should be up to winning this being dropped in grade.

Early kick off at Chantilly today. In the 10.55 Al Dabaran is a shade of odds-on with Hopeful 2/1, yet the Head horse finished ahead of him last time when they were second and third in a Group 3.

Hopeful did the business in a really tight finish where he won about half a length and you could have thrown a blanket over the next three. A race of little consequence going forward I would think. Returned 5/2 here, Hopeful had prevailed by half a length over Al Dabaran when they last met and he got the better of him by exactly the same today, yet the Godolphin runner was 4/5 Fav this time.

One of the Chantilly maidens was won by Jean-Claude Rouget's Lauenen, who was 7th to Victor Ludorum on his previous start. Victor Ludorum was 8 and 3/4 lengths ahead of Lauenen that day and he has since won easily again.

This is the finish of Victor Ludorum's latest race and while he may not be anywhere near Earthlight on ratings for now I think it is worth bearing in mind that Victor Ludorum is finding his finishing burst at the end of a mile race and that is a potent weapon to have when allied to mile stamina:-

I look forward to seeing Victor Ludorum contesting the Victor Ludorum some time in the future :)

What? You wanted in depth analysis? I leave that to others!

Despite being well behind some on Racing Post Ratings Victor Ludorum has opened as 2/1 Favourite for the Lagardere on Sunday. We should get a better idea of how good he is then.

John Gosden had said there was a "Strong possibility" Palace Pier would run but he isn't in the line up and neither is Positive from the Clive Cox yard. Molatham is entered along with Aidan O'Brien's Armory, who represents the Pinatubo form, albeit at a fairly distant second place.
