    Good evening all

    early one for tomorrow

    3.50 Plumpton - MINISTRY 5/1

I have been watching the video replays on the bet365 racing archive for this race and I am hopeful that Ministry can win on his handicap debut over hurdles. A ok stayer on the flat when with John Best he is now in training with Gary Moore who has placed him in three Juvenile hurdles so far and in each he has shaped with plenty of promise without ever looking likely to win. He started off over hurdles at Plumpton finishing 3rd and staying on nicely for hands and heels riding. On his second start over hurdles at Huntingdon he raced keenly and although well beaten the jockey was never serious on him. His third and latest start over hurdles was a well beaten 6th of 11 behind the impressive Saddlers Risk at Kempton. During this race he was settled towards the rear and there was no urgency from the jockey to get him involved before it was too late. He makes his handicap debut tomorrow off a mark of 100 at a track his trainer does very well at and I am confident I will get a good run for my money. The Jonjo horse Future Profit for me didn't shape with that much promise in novice hurdles and just looked like he wasn't good enough to compete, he is fav and I will be worried if more money comes in for him but I think Ministry is the better bet.

I see Sir Barney's favourite Montbazon is 1/8 on the tissue for the opener at Plumpton <yikes> doubt he'll be tipping it up <laugh>

Interesting shout on Ministry RV - I shall keep an eye on it <ok>

It'll take some getting at Ayr tomorrow

    4.40 Vitznau - 30/70 Win/Place

This horse was put on the site last week by Wayward, and whilst we had discussions afterwards, I thought it was very taking that he hated the surface at Southwell and now he returns to familiar going and with headgear on for the first time. He is 6lb lower than when he ran well here in December over C&D and I think we can expect a good run from him here off a mark that he should win off in the near future. I think 20/1 early price is value and I am backing at that odds (BOG) and also toteplace.

    Good luck one and all.

It's a fair shout this one RV though I am not sure it's the handicap plot you may think it is.
One minor point I will take issue with is that the horse ran on the level for John Best not JIM, you wont find many horses ending up at the Moores from the other Best's!

I too have a strong fancy in the race in the form of SONGSMITH 9-1. This one barely gets two miles and wouldn't want it too soft but this is as easy a track as you will find and it's certainly not been overburdened by the handicapper. I am sure it will run a big race and is certainly worth consideration.

    Good luck to all ;-)

I could fancy Storm Survivor in the 3.15 Plumpton BUT the sharpness of the track could be against him and he will need strong handling. Don't know much about this jockey so I think I'll play safe and wait for AP to take the mount again, on a more galloping course. Hopefully at a better price if he doesn't win tomorrow.

Might have a nice e/w fancy for the Betfair hurdle, will let you know on Tuesday after I've done a bit more research.

I have to go against you RV in the 3.50- I am siding with the local east sussex trainer Jamie Poultons horse -Wheres Jonny 6/1 ( who I actually passed a few days ago) the yard is about 15 mins near where I live.

He loves it here and, having returned from a layoff with two C&D seconds off the same mark this month, deserves a change of luck and should go one better but will be backing him e/w as a saver! Incase his luck hasnt changed <laugh>

Well lets hope he runs a better race than LTO, im sure he will be winning soon and is certsainly one to follow, hopefully tomorrow is the day. I see they have a decent Jockey on board and the stable and owner are renound for big priced winners.

Im with you and so much so he is my NAP and i rate his win/place chances as 50/50

    Stick

thanks for the spot on the wrong best - changed it <ok>

I looked at Songsmith as well as he actually finished well ahead of Ministry at Huntingdon - however that one has been ridden to win each time. I certainly don't think this is a plot like Big Easy on Saturday but I know one thing and that is Ministry has hardly been off the bridle so far over hurdles -been well looked after so will take a chance. Songsmith has a big chance on form <ok>

Anyone willing to say which horse impressed them the most over the weekend?

I will start with Dynaste Nass!! Actually had BB in trouble for a short time and still has plenty of improvement in him.

Leaving aside the equine superstars Big Bucks and Hurricane Fly (who could not be impressed?) I was very taken by Little Josh in the Argento. Given the problems he has had and the fact that it was his first run for a year, I thought he looked very good and was hopeful of a return on my e/w bet before he weakened badly coming off the bend and I am undecided as to whether this was just tiredness or that he failed to stay. But a very encouraging comeback run from the 2010 Paddy Power Gold Cup winner and we'll see where the Twister goes with him next. I would say the Ryanair would be the most likely option as he is probably too high for a handicap and his stamina may be an issue in the Gold Cup.

Interesting answers, I didn't really take note of Little Josh, will take a look back at his efforts this evening. Dynaste took the eye and to me he is already one to be ready to back when he goes over the big obstacles, I watched back his Haydock win and I was so impressed by his efforts. I think he can give Big Bucks a race in the World Hurdle, especially if the big Hendo hope runs in the race too. Still think Big Bucks is the most amazing horse in training, wonderful win again this weekend.

Sporting Life racing section is leading with "Alan King's Montbazon should take all the beating in the opener at Plumpton today".

    He's only 1/8 <laugh>
