Bellshill runs in the bumper. If The Tullow Tank runs up to his reputation he'll defy a price of 7/1. Whether he'll stay 3 miles is another matter. His run LTO was very poor. So poor that i think it may be worth putting a line through it. I'm not betting in the race but will be interested to see how he fares.
The Topaz is an outstanding novice race. Strength & depth throughout. Is anyone concerned how a fair few of Willies are running pretty flat? Its a wee concern of mine. And its probably slightly worrying me regards Don Policy whose my strong RSA fancy. I think he should lap this lot as a few in behind him are probably 4 milers whereas this horse was good enough to serve it up to Beat That last April. The Tullow Tank has already beaten Mala Beach but he ain't a 3 miler. I'd be happy enough for him to run well but just not last home from the purely selfish view I want him in the JLT! Again Mullins dodgy form dampens Fly confidence a fraction but if Fly runs up to form he WILL beat Jezki and what scenes that will be down at Leopardstown Don Poli 11/4. Fly 4/5. Both backed, good luck
One of the best novice chases ive ever seen and history suggests you want a real stayer in it. Shanahans Turn and The Tullow tank could be major players in the JLT, Don Poli, Mala Beach, Lots Of Memories, Apache Stronghold and Very Wood all potential RSA candidates. Shanahans Turn the big danger but I think Mala Beach was made for the race and im hoping he is a Gold Cup horse of the future, my biggest bet of the jump season so far.
Mala Beach a very strong stayer Boris so for that reason I think another shower or two would have been up his street. The grounds drying out all the time. A hell of a race their all very good but I hope Don Poli can stamp his RSA claims in it. Think Shanhans Turn down us both a few quid first time out if memory serves (2 poor jumps & a weak ride I think) but out of the market principles he's the one would give me the biggest surprise should he win. Lump on then...
Lots Of Memories that was Beef. Shanahans Turn has won both his chases so far and hes probably the novice ive been most impressed with this season, he looks a different animal over fences and if you watch back the Neptune last season, he went well for a long way in it, hes got class but I just favour Mala Beach's stamina for this one. Id agree that Lots Of Memories might find this a bit hot and also that The Tullow Tank is not a 3 miler.
Ah yep your right. Was thinking of Lots of Memories. Yeah Shanahans Turn very decent animal and would be no surprise should he win. His beating of Wounded Warrior ties in well with DP. He's also a great jumper is ST. Seems to get lengths through the air. I think if the racings on I may very well go tomorrow the more I think about it
Just got 11/4 Bellshill in the bumper. I'm quite surprised to be honest. Didn't expect to get that. Of course Vigil is a very decent horse. He ran fifth in the Champion Bumper last season. However, Bellshill's form really is stacking up nicely. It seems to be a fairly open secret that he's in the the Mullins yards' top 2 or 3 bumper horses. He has the fitness edge this day, something I think was not considered by most when he ran against Attribution LTO. He receives 3lbs from the favourite. At the end of the day, Vigil has already done it on the big stage so he should be favourite in the early market but I don't think Bellshill should be 11/4 so i've had a good old bet and expect the two will be a lot closer in the betting by the off time. Best of luck chaps.
3.20 - not one of my own picks but Shark seemed keen on Abolitionist this afternoon. Funnily enough, it was the only bit of ATR i managed to catch today 3.20 Limerick - Abolitionist 7/2
Mullins isn't doing too badly Beefy. the leading lights maybe aren't winning but in the main, the yard is firing. Second and fourth in the Lexus. First and fourth in the bumper. Glens Melody travelled beautifully when overmatched and overstretched by the trip in the Christmas Hurdle. Briar Hill is finished. Zaidpour doesn't want to know any more. The Limerick horses look to have been up against really good animals. He won the Dial A Bet yesterday with the king amongst rogues, Twinlight.
Yeah he's not doing bad for a stable not firing on all cylinders!! Think the fly will destroy the field tomorrow will get his ground loves the track and jezki won't be 100% not that it matters
2.10 Newbury Blacklion - 11/4 Looks to have enough to reverse the form with parlour games who that day when beating him at cheltenham had 3lbs on blacklion that day now running off level weights and the stronger gallop will suit my selection more which it looks like to have and every run he seems to progress and his 11 length victory seems prooof of that. The favourite has looked a bit dodgy once off the bridle but he does fight back but may not have enough to win
2:10 New - Blaklion 11/4 Admittedly running over a distance slightly shorter than ideal, I have been nothing but impressed with this fella (even when defeated by Parlour Games - was forced to make the running and set it up for PG) and think the 11/4 on offer for tomorrow is more than generous. 3:05 Leop - Shanahans Turn 11/2 Hell of a race to solve this. The Tullow Tank is the class horse but ran poorly last time - Bob makes a good point that the run could be too bad to be true. Mala Beach won easy as he liked last time out but was brushed aside by TTT the time before. Don Poli won well on his chasing debut and his form ties in nicely with Shanahans Turn. As a result, I have sided with ST as he hasn't put a foot wrong thus far and the 11/2 represents the value in the race for me. Anyway, some smashing races, good luck to you all - well, not in the 3:05 at least and let's hope the meetings pass inspection!!
Talking of Gold Cup horses, I'll stand shagging if CONEYGREE doesn't turn out to be a Gold Cup horse. That's a proper staying chaser in the making. Tomorrow I'm convinced Apache Stronghold will relish 3m. Been hoping this fellow steps up in trip- it should be where his class really shows.
Good man likewise stuck him in a double with Highland Lodge a step down in class is on a lenient mark and add the 10lb claimer on board hard to see it past him
