Rudey did you see your boy Burchell had a nice winner at Uttoxeter today at 16/1. I saw it, thought it was over priced and then didn't back it. Numpty ☹️
same as you chan, there wasn't money for it , mind you early this year it won at 66/1 ,same course , jockey , whenever robbie dunne takes the reigns , take note , very underrated jockey , but is cool as you like .
Eyesopenwideawake, kempton 2 35 , cd winner last year when trained by h whittington , same jockey , small stable won with a similar type at market rasen last week , this one is 10/1 , a working mans price that's for sure !!
I like that as a tongue n cheek bet for a Monday morning.... Won't be backing it myself as no bets until saturday but best of luck with it..
Morning, team. Let’s start with a review of Saturday’s highlighted pair. Red Impression looked very good (although it could be argued she only beat ‘trees’) and really could have done no more in romping home by 6 lengths at Lingers Park. Remains very much one to follow. Now down to as low as 16’s (although 40/1 still available elsewhere) for the 1,000 Guineas if things go well over the Winter you would have to think that they would start 2019 in something like the Nelly Gwyn or the Freddie Darling. Hazzaar was a dappy price but proved the hype to be somewhere approaching correct as he won on his rules debut at Ascot. Is 33/1 for the ‘Champion Bumper’ but given his trainers earlier comments you would have to suspect it will be hurdling for him next. Still very much one to keep in the old notebook. The big discussion point re Saturday’s racing though ha to be just what, I say just what, was the Lieutenant up to prior to the running of the 2.25 at Haydock?!? As the hurdlers circled at the start, re that contest, he was seen barging the birch of the adjacent chase fence! Now was he (i) testing their severity ahead of Might Bite jumping them, or (ii) had he simply taken a few wrong turns after leaving the ‘Owners and Trainers Bar’?!? I think we all know the answer to that one don’t we regular readers! What, what?!? Oh and all being well Santini does debut Friday. Good luck all.
Not for me today, potentially a nice little race with better opponents than last time and a shorter price too. The King horse would be the one I’m most concerned about. Form with Totterdown is interesting.
What do we think about Thistlecrack and the rest of the campaign then, troops??? For me it would be 'King George VI Chase' and then the 'Stayers Hurdle'.
Agree on the King George but I can’t see him winning a stayers hurdle. The Snooks have always wanted a Gold Cup horse I believe.
I think that might end being his Gold Cup. Let’s hope he runs another belter in the King George and goes Gold Cup.
What does everyone think about Might Bite then? Gonna come back and win the King George in style? Henderson reckons he got spooked on Saturday when clouting the 2nd or 3rd fence then exerted too much energy jumping the remainder..he went out like a light though...but apparently will be in tip top shape for Kempton.... We 've already seen horses for courses fully advertised on Saturday so around Kempton it could be Might Bite in a canter...
Thistlecrack best priced 25/1 for both the CGC and the Stayers Hurdle. Is in places though as low as 10/1 for the latter. It could be argued that both races will be weak in 2019 (the extremely open nature of both markets support this) and it will I’m sure come down to which option looks the most winnable nearer the time. Incidentally one curious thing. Santini now quoted for the 2019 CGC (he wasn’t at the back end of last week. Maybe this is a result of Might Bite’s demise at the weekend). 50/1 the odds currently. Re Might Bite think he could hose up at Kempton on St Stephen's Day but on the age stat (no double digit winner for over 20 years) his chance to win the CGC was earlier this year.
You have a real hard on for this Santini horse Barney, my question is if it wasnt trained by Henderson would you still be salavating over it?!
afternoon, fellas! kempton,2 35: SISTER SYBIL is a very reliable mare, and especially her last run in second was a very good one,and the form is working out really well.is also on the same mark today,so a big run might be forthcoming..
musselburgh,3 00: it might not have been a particularly strong race,CAP ST VINCENT won last time out,and hes 8 lbr higher in a better contest, but he won very convincingly in the end,and is still quite unexposed,so can surely do better..
I’ve been salivating over it since its hurdling debut! In my view Santini is one of the most exciting horses to go over fences for a very, very long time. Having the Lieutenant on board is an obvious bonus, of course it is, but not the overriding factor. Said before though that the owner is something of a ‘loose cannon’ so I would envisage it would be him rather than the Lieutenant calling the shots re future targets (which is why I think the 2019 CGC could be a target if Suntini romped away with 2-3 novice chases prior to the Festival).
kempton,3 40: MONDAY CLUB has already had a very busy season so far,but shows no signs of tiring yet,and hes holding his form really well.especially his last win has worked out quite well,so,with a useful conditional up today, can go well..
How wonderful to see Lieutenant Henderson get it up for Mr Ponsonby at Kempton Park this afternoon. People, is there a better sight on our racecourses?!?
