Mornin all- someone has to kick it off, so i shall put up Noble Witness in the 6 00 clock at towcester, the Pogson family have been showing distinct signs of form with their horses lately, as ever when 'small' stables get in the zone you must pay attention. this is a very reliable jumper , who would have given Haar a fright at least LTo, if not stumbling at the last, Haar has franked the form since, Noble Witness has winning course form, and has won over further in heavy ground , but is not dependant on it. The main danger imo is the top weight Theophastrus from the gifford outfit, i have left out Queen of Mantua which i put up last time , as i feel that she had a hard race , and just got home. Good luck as ever....
I shall start today off with a VERY short priced fav in the way of LEGAL WAVE 10/11 6.20 Windsor. Fallon messed it up last time out but absolutely flew at the finish in a furlong less than today so for me this is a brown envelope job or at least for me a massive bet of £55 to win £50 but as many of you have said before a short price winner is better than a big priced loser. GL to those that partake today. copied from earlier thanks
Good luck Ginger. i looked at that as well but the price put me off. Two for me at Towcester. 5.25 Tom Sang at 8/1 each way 7.30 Tea Caddy at 8/1 each way
Really interesting race at Windsor tonight. The 7.20 is a listed contest over a mile with 6 runners. Dickie Highes can't make the 8-3 weight for Montridge i believe which is why he rides Monsieur Chevallier. Montridge gets the best part of a stone from the rest of the field but there's so many questions to answer for that horse that taking odds on seems madness. I'll be watching but not getting involved.
A couple of E/W possibilities today for me: 3.50 Doncaster - Dusky Queen 5/1 6.50 Windsor - Ain't got a Scooby 6/1 I'm hoping Scooby will go well on the ground, and that Dusky Queen can repeat last year's form on good ground.
Not long now until the first meeting at my local (York), looking forward to, missed the autumn meet but was there to see Frankel in August. Hope the weather improves, its horrible atm and the forecast doesnt look nice. Cant believe Telescope is as short as 5/4 for the Dante, laying that all day long.
I'm about 25 minutes from the track and the sun has been shining all day but there is a little bit of light rain every hour or so. I hope they haven't done any artificial watering.
Horse running tonight in the Towcester bumper named after one of the finest Westerns ever made - Ulzana's Raid - from 1972 and starring Burt Lancaster: "Report reaches the US cavalry that the Apache leader Ulzana has left his reservation with a band of followers. A compassionate young officer, Lieutenant DeBuin, is given a small company to find him and bring him back; accompanying the troop is McIntosh, an experienced scout, and Ke-Ni-Tay, an Apache guide. Ulzana massacres, rapes and loots across the countryside; and as DeBuin encounters the remains of his victims, he is compelled to learn from McIntosh and to confront his own naiveté and hidden prejudice." That'll do for me, plus it's trained by Alan King 6/1
Nice one Oddy. I watched The Cabinet Of Dr Caligari earlier...a real classic! Nothing for me today...had a close look at Lanigans pair of H'cap debutants in the last two races Windsor, who have lovely profiles, but I missed the early prices and they are now too short. Really looking forward to Steps To Freedom and Rebel Fitz facing off in the opener at Killarney tomorrow evening.Thats some beginners 'chase for mid May!...hopefully the rain stays away. GL everyone having a punt.
Not quite ................... "The Sherriff is a n*****" "What did he say?" "The Sherriff is near, I think"
Unforgiven (1992) is my all-time fav western. Gene Hackman picking up and looking at a comic book "Duck of Death?" Clint Eastwood, spitting blood having received a beating "It's Duke of Death" Hackman "I say it's Duck of Death!"
There are more quotes and anecdotes used from that film than any other i can think of... A pure classic for the pc brigade to wade into... Or maybe The Life of Brian...
The Clint Spaghetti westerns of the Fist Full of Dollars, Few Dollars More and the Good, the Bad, the Ugly take some beating... Though that 'Unforgiven' Reebok is a good one too. Ive always like Gene Hackman films...
