I was in Italy last week and it was roasting hot (39C).
Better to not play than to risk injuries on a dodgy pitch. Again, this is out of the control of the club, so the blame can't really be laid at their door.

I was going to say the same.

How important is the quality of the opposition in these pre-season friendlies anyway?

Last year we had Harry bemoan about our pre-season, as if he had no say or input into the matter. Last season and again in this one, we're told that the results, opposition, and score-line doesn't matter . It's all about players getting game time and vital minutes on the pitch.

I think Harry was wrong when he stated that we had a poor pre-season. What he should have said was ' I've had a poor pre-season. '
He didn't get the right personnel in or strike the right balance with the squad thus creating a poor team spirit.

I was going to add more but I've decided to delete it as I've just had a thought. If you was in charge of arranging 'QPR's' pre-season what would you do, who would you play and where, and what are your thoughts behind it?

Sorry Swords, it wasn't a personal request. Just a generic one. You was tied into it because I was going to say that this pre-season is already turning into an almighty shambles. A bit like you did in the post I quoted.

I don't think there's really much to getting a decent preseason together mate, logistically at any rate. Just pick a place, make sure the facilities are up to scratch, you have enough of everything and you've got opponents who show up. So far it appears we haven't even been able to get that much right. Hopefully it improves.

Last year's preseason was fine contrary to Redknapp's bullshi*ting. He just jumped on it as yet another excuse of his own failure to put a decent squad together.

QPR have again had to change the venue for a pre-season friendly in Italy, this time because of concerns about the state of the pitch.
Chris Ramsey’s side were due to play Monaco on Tuesday evening at the Novarello Training Centre, where the surface has been seriously affected by extremely hot weather.
Rangers believed playing on the hard surface could put their players at risk of injury and Monaco had similar misgivings.
The match will therefore now be played at Stadio E.Brunod Chatillon.
QPR were forced into a late change of opponents and venue after Shakhtar Donetsk pulled out of a planned friendly on Saturday, leaving Rangers to hastily arrange a match against Verona Stars.
Rangers are supplying two free chartered coaches to take supporters to the match from Stresa, where the squad is currently based. Further details are on the club’s website.

    Stresa is lovely, lucky bastards.

Nines, if I were in charge I'd bring them back from hols a week earlier for the fitness stuff, do a 5 day tour against Championship level teams in Northern Europe somewhere (which may mean top division teams in some countries) - Scandinavia, Germany, Holland - where you will face opposition who will always try. Then give them a couple of days off, more training and try to get involved in (or even set up) an Emirates Cup type pre season tournament against decent teams from Europe. None of this we are playing at Barnet rubbish except for those who aill not be in match day squad.

No but if SWP was still about, we could have shoved a broom up his rear end and finally he would have been useful.
