A few days ago Martin O`Neill`s name stood side by side Mark Hughes at 6/4 in the betting. Today he is still there. I wonder why nobody noticed the sudden shortening of odds from 16/1 http://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/stoke/next-permanent-manager
For quite a while MON was top of the wish list on this (an other) forums. Better than Hughes IF there were choice - for me at least
Yes, it's an interesting idea, MON seemed to run out of steam at Sunderland (which was odd as they were supposed to be his favourite english team as a lad). I think there is still a good manager there, I also worry that age and personal/family trauma may have taken the edge off his best days (like they have off mine). MoN is a gamble, but a much safer bet than 'welsh Leslie'
As a Sunderland fan I'm sad to say that I have to disagree. At Sunderland MON just didn't seem to have any idea how to create an attacking unit, and the only explanation I can think of is that Sunderland was the only club he managed without Robinson being his No 2.
Hehehe, Leslie is his first, given name. As he chooses not to use it, we assume he doesn't like it. Ergo those of us that don't like him DO use it. Simples ....(as I believe the youngsters say)
Thanks Tosh (as the.youngsters say). I trying to comprehende JM's suggestion of a girlie wearing sensible shoes. All my visions are vaguely pornographic, the worrying thing is, I have no idea why. No doubt JM and the usual suspects will enlighten me.
Nick, It's a reference from the film Good Morning Vietnam, about lesliebians wearing comfortable shoes.
It's also a term much used in "Roger's Profanisaurus" (a Viz publication) in connection with "lady golfers" "tennis fans" "ladies from Hebden Bridge" and a number of other rather more....err...direct, unambiguous epithets.
As a SAFC supporter I thought you would have had MON straight in, but his signings were shocking and not enough, and tactics.
