Watching this and for the first time in my life I can say with absolutely honesty that I could not give a tinker's cuss about the result, performance, or anything. The only thing I have a passing interest in is injuries to England players in teams we will be playing soonish. This is quite sad for someone who has spent a lot of money following his country over the years.
Still love international football myself. Nothing about football makes me more excited than the world cup and the Euros. It's definitely in my wish list to go to a world cup, don't mind what game I watch, and soak up the atmosphere!! Would rather we'd got that than the Olympics......
And for the last 1 each of those tournaments I've started doing the panini stickers again. Used to get a couple of packs a week when I was little if I could afford it. Now I can buy as many as I want, it's great!! Some people just never grow up eh?
Mack, I took a job in Italy in 1988 on the basis that the World Cup was coming in 90. Stayed 4 years, met the wife (Welsh, not Italian, don't ask) and more importantly saw every England game, and quite a few others. Brilliant and highly recommended. I have just fallen out of love with this England team. Not a single player in it I am excited about seeing play. Roy is a decent man and doing his best with very limited material, but his percentage football kills me. 3-0. Lampard has played 92 times for England. defoe has played 50 times. No further comment.
Anyone remember this? England's next opponents. I remember Sir Les scoring a hat-trick in the 6-0 home win.
We're 3-0 up now, and you're right, it's not a very exciting game. Bet we end up sitting on the edge of our own box soon to protect our lead!! We need a truly world class player to break through and wow us before Rio imo. As for Roy, he does his job well and makes the team solid, but it won't get anyone's heart racing.... As for Italian '90, still by far the best world cup I've ever seen, would love to have been there!!
This! When I first got into football and Q.P.R.! If England's ranking position is based on these types of games, then no wonder they are 3rd! We could beat Moldova with Hulse in the side!
It was probably the worst World Cup in history, football-wise. It was still exciting though cos ENG & IRL did well.
Was there myself at the time although didn't go to the stadium, worked over 20 years in Italy. England had a great team that year unlike Italy who were poor, Vialli in particular was very heavily criticised iirc. All in all enjoyed the 1982 Cup more as it went really mental when Italy won for the first time in over forty years (not that the two World Cups won in the 30's under Fascism should be counted). In that regard it was particularly sweet that Sandro Pertini was there to witness it as President of Italy.
i dont really care, I only have it on because its on free TV, I wouldnt even bother watching a stream if it was on sky. The ref ruined it 3 mins in by giving a ridiculous pen and then 2 bookings for nothing. It just sucks the life out of the game.
