We found him so we can find others like him if this is indeed true. He could just be bucking for attention or playing with our emotions who knows? I'm going to relax and enjoy the summer and we shall see what we shall see come the start of next season. I am not unduly worried as to who leaves or stays because there will always be a Tottenham Hotspur and we will adapt.
I think the key is to relax until something is confirmed by the club. We all know that summer with no football means the papers have to keep spinning the transfer stories to sell their rags. It's entirely plausible that Modric might go, as well might Narsi from Arsenal - but until it's confirmed, I'll take the paper talk with a pinch of salt
Calm down dear. I'm just trying to sift out the obvious paper BS from something the player may have actually said. Like I said, I take it all with a pinch of salt, but I'm interested in whether these are actual quotes or simple spin.
Just when i thought it would die down a bit with redknapp coming out and saying "not for sale" and modric with his interview last weekend saying he wants to stay then we get this!!!!! Really getting on my nerves now. Not sure wether to believe this is actually modric talking and trying to engineer a move and that i won't forgive.
As he's presumably on holiday with his family, it seems unlikely that they've got a quote out of him at all.
@ Poll, it's now become real tedious and boring ain't it mate? I just can't believe after Redknapp telling everyone "NOT FOR SALE" AND MODRIC interview last week where he basically commited himself to us next season we are still paraded with these ****ty articles trying to unsettle him and force the transfer. I'm getting fed up with it now and if Manchester United get their own ****ing way AGAIN then that's it for me!!!
Remember how transfers were carried out in the days before SSN, where it wasn't a constant bombardment for the entire summer of "Give us your players, OR ELSE"?
It's getting tedious, Don. As I'm sure you've seen on the other thread about this, the same paper has had the same ****ing story over and over for nearly a week. As Man Utd have already spent £50m+ on players in this window, where are they supposedly conjuring up this fee from? It's a load of old balls, in a sly attempt to unsettle our best player. Again.
exactly, where the **** would they get 35mil + from to pay for modric because Levy won't go for less than that. I am just sick of bending over and taking it up the rear end from Manchester United and Fergie. If this actually happens we might aswell add "Manchester Uniteds feeder club" to the end of our name because that's what we have become. We will never push anywhere as a club if we let this happen and we continue going backwards as a club. Part of me wants to think this is a load of BS but i also know when that Red nose **** fergie wants something, he usually gets his own way!!!!
Guys, why do you get so wound up by this? If the player wants to go, and someone wants to buy him, then it will happen. This isn't about the way Ferguson operates, it's about the way the market operates. All clubs leak anonymous relevant transfer fodder to the press, to aid in their pursuit of players - and in amongst it, lots of irrelevant total tosh to throw people off the scent. I would imagine most players ignore all transfer speculation in the media (as I do), as most of it is fabricated. I seriously doubt that players get unsettled by newspaper rumour mill noise. The reason Ferguson gets his own way is that he manages a hugely successful team and has quite a bit of money to throw around at times... but mostly the former. (Unlike City who are the opposite). The best players will just about always migrate to the most successful clubs. That's what makes it so damned difficult to break into the elite. I am not saying it's right, or that I like it, just that that's the way it is. Just chill out dudes. He'll either leave or he wont... either way you getting all shook up about it wont make a sh!t of difference.
Harry doesn't want Moddy to go, and Moddy isn't going to put in a transfer request. That doesn't mean that United cannot make a enquiry. Having said that, I would have little doubt that Moddy, as would any player, want to play for United. Let's face it, most players would consider playing for United to be the pinnacle of their career. Let's not fool ourselves or let our bias blind us to this fact. Therefore, if United have made an enquiry as to the availability of Moddy, it would strange if Moddy wasn't either flattered or interested. But that certainly does not mean either that (a) Levy will agree to sell him, or (b) Moddy is going to throw his toys out of the pram when Levy tells SAF to get on his bike. I really wouldn't worry about this lads, especially as there is a very strong rumour that United are already in talks with Nasri. United won't buy both Moddy and Nasri.
I cannot remember too many Arsenal players going to Man U because the two teams seem to play entirely different football whereas us and Man U are both flair teams so they choose our players. What I don't like is a player who sets himself above the others and the club. For instance "Buy or I'm off." It means that that player is conceited and thinks that the team won't win anything. He's completely ignorant of the fact that he too should play his part in the success of the club and it means that he hasn't really tried as hard as he could or should. I'm not saying that Modric fits all of that description but he certainly if the quotes are true has put himself on a pedestal."Buy or I'm off" means "I'm too good for here."
"Surely I'm too good for here, so buy or I'm off" is better, as it at least gives the opportunity for the club to take remedial action to keep the player on board (if they want to)? It's better than the player just f///ing off and then explaining why they left after it's too late to do something about it. If you are playing for a club and think you could attract the interest of a better club, but would like to remain loyal to your current club, then why not at least give them a chance to prove they have the ambition to achieve the same common goals, before you up and leave?
