Surely if Modric asks to leave, Levy will have to accept it and then try to get the best price.

Fingers crossed that he sticks it out one more season at least. If we get a deal or 2 through we will be going places next season

I'm in two minds, on 1 hand he is a quality player and an important part of the squad and selling to a rival would be horrible to see. On the other if he wants to leave and isn't 100% committed then I don't want him playing for the club and would rather have someone else who is in it 100%.

Plus just as he was part of the team that got 4th in 2010, he was part of the team that failed to get it this year.

Which would mean a move to Chelsea, almost certainly.

These rumours about Modric won't go away. If they are true, £45M would fund a move for £30M Rossi, who 'Arry appears to have expressed a wish to buy and other signings (Leandro Damiao?).

Is Modric worth selling if it means Rossi and Leandro are recruited?

P.S. I can't see Bale leaving.

Luke with all due respect- the press would love to say I told you so.
However the sources for a lot of these "exclusives" are hardly reputable- the Mail, the people.
As for the stories that they will let him go for 45m- it kind of flies in the face the official statement doesn't it?
Harry will get the players he wants.When was the last time
Spurs publicly said they were after a player and that player actually signed?

Our midfield is our strongest area by far. Our strikeforce are weak at best.
Without Modric we have VDV/Kranjcar/Hudd who can fill that position, all of which most teams would dream of having.
Without signing a decent striker, we'll be condemned to watch Crouch, Defoe, Keane and Pav misfire for at least another 6 months.

IMO, If selling Modric means a scoring strikeforce, so be it.

Why would we need to sell Modric to fund a new strikeforce?

O'Hara's gone for £5m, Jenas, Palacios, Bentley, Dos Santos, Hutton, Bassong (sadly) and pretty much all of our misfiring strikers could all follow.
That should raise enough money, easily.

There's been supposed interest in all of them, but the window only opened a few days ago, CS.
Some teams will be in the same position that we're in and it may take a little more movement elsewhere, before we can offload some players.

Fair point, but I do fail to see anyone actually taking Bentley or Keane for example. I think if we can't sell them this summer, we should mutually release them - saves our already tight wage bill.

We've already had an admittedly crap bid for Keane from Blackburn.
I think that he'll sell quite easily.
He's a highly experienced international striker, proven in the Premier League and still only 30.
He'll do a good job for somebody, if used correctly.

Bentley could be a little bit of a problem, but I think that somebody will come in for him.
If he doesn't go, then I think that he'd actually link up well with Walker down the right, if they were used together in the Europa league and domestic cups.
Redknapp appears to have written him off for throwing water at him, though.

Saying that, I can see him going somewhere like Galatasaray, or at least abroad. He'd probably suit a club in Eastern Europe, he'd be able to finish his career with a bang, like Kenny Miller has. May be the same sort of thing for Bentley too.

The SSN "story" is that the supposed meeting is not for Modric to apologise but to discuss his future, with the background that Modric wants to play CL football next season and Spurs are denying him his human rights by not playing ball and letting the status quo continue
