A lot of the old 606'ers are on here, and I'm sure a lot of us remember the old "Friday Fun Freads".

They used to get more and more ridiculous and some of the ingenuity displayed in making these threads "football related" was outstanding.

We had some epic Python posts, some good discussions about music, cheese, whisky, and certain "combustible smoking products". We managed to get in comedic posts about trolley buses, pies and beer, not to mention donkeys, and Karchered cats.........it used to be good fun, and interspersed with some decent football posts, well it helped lift the mood at what was a a tough time for our beloved club, it became a battle of wits between us and the mods.............some of us pushed it to the extreme, and had to re-incarnate themselves on more than one occasion ;), we used to have fans of our next opponents wandering off in a daze, scratching their heads in disbelief, they'd come on looking for our opinions on the up and coming fixture, and stagger off mumbling about trolley buses! All in all it was good fun.

Now we have a board where we can say what we like, within reason as we police ourselves, and apart from Mabon's cheese quiz..............well it's all FOOTBALL BLOODY FOOTBALL Come on lads get a grip ;)

Isn't "football bloody football" a remix of an old U2 song?

I used the love the old trolly buses.
Get on one end and move your way through the bus, avoiding the conductor, before finally getting off the other end hopefully without having paid tut tut.
mmmmmmmm....good times........oh. whats that about football moonie?

Yep they had a set of stairs at the front as well as at the back, if you played it right you could make sure you were upstairs, when the conductor was downstairs and vice versa, we used to travel down to NP from Ely, the idea was to get to NP for nothing, but it became a matter of pride that you didn't get caught and kicked off until at least Victoria Park, because then you could nip into the Clarksie shop...........happy days indeed ;)

The whole point of trolley buses was they didn't have rails, they had sticks that went up to the wires and sometimes fell off. Then the conductor would have to get a great big pole out of the "Exhaust pipe" to lift it back on, making sure he stopped the traffic 10 yards behind the beast first. lol
I loved the little single deckers that went under the bridge in West canal wharf down to butetown.
and I used to go to the doctors on one with my Mum, The No 9 or the No 1, from Gabalfa roundabout to the junction of City Road/Albany road. (Don't ask why we lived in Llandaff North and had a doctor in roath, it's too complicated. lol
One of those numbers went up Cathedral Road to the turnaround point by llandaff fields. It's still there today but the wires have gone.

No 6 and no 9 used to run from Llandaff Fields to the Pier Head, as you say the turnaround point is still there...............just opposite The Halfway, for the more alcoholically inclined ;)

Not sure about the tracks these days, but something in back of this old mind tells me there are some in Cardiff somwhere, or was up untill a (fair ) few years back as I seem to remember seeing them.
I can remember after the trollys when they done greyfrairs rd, the buses used to come around that bend fast on a busy evening, and I have seen the platform hit the road and sparks flying, frightened me to death.

Mabon a good idea M8, but the whole point about these threads, they were like the best parties, unplanned and off the cuff, I'll certainly try, but when you try to be witty or ridiculous on purpose, well it looks stilted and doesn't work,,,,,,,,,if we happen to get one going, well we can ask H Bomb to make it sticky...........now where did I leave my alligator ;)

Used to stop there on the way home from the City, half a dozen Clarks pies to go home.

A couple of pints in the Lansdown before the match and change from 5/=
