Hello, simple question, do you want a moderator on your board, let me explain. A mod must be a supporter of the club because he or she is there to represent the fans, ensure the board is run the way the fans want it so he or she needs to understand the club and its fans. Its not the mods role to decide who to delete, ban or moderate because of their personal views but to act with the views of the fans in mind, in practice usually the same thing. Its not a power trip for people who want a title and its not a police job, its certainly not a 24 hour a day job or a BBC strict rules job. The mod does need to be a fan of this site and spend time on it, you can share it out by having two mods who look after things between them but whoever it is needs to have a mature attitude, be open and fair minded and not be easily offended. So what does the mod do? Use his/her judgment to delete threads or comments that take banter into abuse. Act as link between the fans and the forums admin. Welcome new members, usually with a welcome thread. Sticks threads at the head of the forum that will be of benefit to members. Try to calm things down if they get heated. Reccomend users to be banned from this board or the forum in general. Help with the sites development along with the other mods. So, you donât have to have one but its reccomended you do. First step is to decide yes or no, second nominate who you want, third see if who you want is willing to do it. Over to you, its your board so you decide.
so far it has been pretty good on here,a little banter with the blue few,but generally it has been good natured so far. To be fair on 606 it was not to bad,but yes it makes sence to have a mod or mods just to keep a eye on things.
Okay I'll do it, how much are you offering? Anything around the £20 an hour mark and I'll be interested. And what about holiday pay? I do like my holidays so that will have to be sorted out, I was thinking maybe 6 weeks a year as I'm planning on going to Thailand for Christmas. I could log in when I'm over there but you can't be sure of far eastern internet cafes and all that, or would I be able to do it from my iPhone? If so then I'm all ears. Oh and what about chances of promotion? I mean who knows where I could be in five years? Let me know where to send my CV and if I'm what you're looking for then I'd be able to attend a formal interview (not on Wednesday afternoons though as I play golf) or maybe we could meet for an informal chat and perhaps we could 'do' lunch?
yeah I wouldn't mind being mod, I think i'm the most active out of us on here, but if we do then we might as well see who is interested and who isn't
Not sure we need anyone, apart from a few misguided gas heads and the odd sheep botherer banter is fairly light hearted and good natured. I'm sure as the season un-folds a few more may poke their noses in around match days but nothing that cant be dealt with by the regulars on here.
I've been giving this matter some thought and I reckon it might not be a bad idea. Anyone else feel the same?
After reading some of the rather heated debates with Baadiff, and Svens nobs it's probably a good idea.My nomination for the post would be Wizered(old bloke).
The thing is, this is a different animal than the old 606 and when the season starts things could get even sillier, and it might put people off bothering with it at all. As you know, I enjoy banter as much as anyone but I always try to use humour (even if some of it is quite spikey) rather than out and out insults. I'd be willing to throw my hat into the ring to try and keep at least a bit of decorum about the place! You'd have to be pretty excessive for me to interfere but something needs to happen I think. Also, I've had a look around most boards and they have some interesting ideas like 'Virtual pubs' and sticky threads and so on, so it might make the place a bit more interesting/user friendly. BTW Where is wiz? Starting to miss the old reprobate
Yeah the Leicester fans especially have got on my nerves a bit I wouldn't mind doing it either but there's the thing of who wants to do it, then agree with 1/2 doing it
Like Syd says Millens, first we have to decide if we want it, then see who's interested, then see if people are willing. So come on fellas lets hear your views
I would have no problem lucky enough having my own business,I'm on the computer all day every day, popping in ad out of here and looking round the boards.personally think two or three would be a advantage especially with holidays etc.
Have to agree I think we could use a mod, as long you dont get power hungry on us! The sticky threads and virtual pubs sound a great idea cause I'm skint and i'm not aloud to go to real pubs anymore, just need to make sure you'll be serving Blackthorn!
To be honest, I don't think this community needs moderation, and any calls for it have stemmed from the escalation from single posts vBulletin comes with this handy report button on every post, so should things ever happen why can't we just report the offending post and let an administrator deal with it?
I tell ya what, i'll do it. True hero! As my first motion - i shall declare that Nicky Maynard shall be herein refered to as 'Nicky Maynard the Leicester City fan'. Failure to comply will result in immediate ban. So...when do i start??
Maybe we dont need moderating, and they wouof get an easy ride, but there does seem to be the other benefits of the sticky threads and other bits. Or have I missed the point?
