Been googling this to no avail: basically I want to transfer from Orange Pay As You Go to Tesco PAYG but keep my number AND phone. I can't see any way of doing this as I'd need to buy a new phone from Tesco. Seems a waste to get rid of a perfectly good phone.
Your Tesco Mobile SIM card will come with its own number printed on the back of the box. If you want to keep your current number though, follow the steps below: Contact your existing network and ask for a PAC (Port Authorisation Code). Once you have your PAC code, click on the link above and fill in the form before it expires. We'll then transfer your existing number to Tesco Mobile. Your Tesco Mobile takes about 1 working day, we'll send you an email confirming when the transfer will be completed. Ensure you either make a note of all your contacts, or copy them to your phone otherwise you may lose them. On the day of your transfer, your phone number will be moved across to your new SIM card and you will loose network signal. When this happens: Switch off your phone Put the new SIM card into your phone Switch your phone back on Yacontcha!
Can't do that as I've ordered a new phone aswell, with geotagging, I want one for work and one for metal detecting/personal use.
Geotagging is where your phone appends a precise GPS location to the tags on your photographs. Most people wouldn't need it, indeed it's undesireable in some cases in that when you upload a photo on the net, anyone can view the tags and see exactly where you took it. Effectively, you post a pic of yourself and someone can use google maps to find your address. I really need it for my metal detecting as I'm planning on taking a photo whenever I find something interesting then when I get home I can put the exact locations in my database. If I really cover a field well, I'll be able to use these coordinates with google maps to pinpoint areas of historical activity that require further investigation. The phone I've got is supposed to have geotagging but it doesn't work. Orange fobbed me off to Samsung. Samsung sent me to some dodgy shop in Peterborough who merely restored factory settings losing all my numbers/pictures/music. Samsung customer support refuse to reply to my emails. I am hoping that my new relationship with the big bad Tesco will prove more fruitful.
I just discovered all my photos have that...... I had forgotten I had been to some places. I don't know just how accurate I would be for your purposes. Or even off there are degrees of accuracy with **** like that. I couldn't really think what it would be useful for.... Now I know. What do you plan on doing with your database? Is there a goal to it, or just part of the process?
I'm not sure about accuracy, I think within 10 meters, maybe 1 or 2 meters. I go on fields that are quite vast and am restricted by the crops growing so I may get a small window of opportunity on a wheat field but the farmer will be quite happy for me to trample over his rape crops all winter as they are not worth as much. This means year on year I'm building up a database of finds from different fields, some I've been on once or twice in a year, some a dozen times but I've only got a very approximate location for where each artifact or coin was found. If I can pinpoint the finds within a couple of meters then over time I'll get some really good data about that land. The archaeologists will be happy too.
stopme you should go on a ghost/metal hunt with acworth. oh the joy ye would bring to each other would be marvellous
