In 2008, in the last ten games, we got 19 points out of 30, and finished 3rd with 75 points. GD was 18 (65-47). Then in 2013, in the last ten, we got 14 points out 30, and finished 2nd with 79 points. GD was measly 9( 61-52). This year who knows? We had a very strong team spirit in 2008 with seemingly the whole city willing us to do it, and we had a Campbell-Windass partnership that opened up most defences it come up against. In 2013 we had a weak attack with Koren ending up as top scorer with 9, and a porous defence. This is reflected in the exceptionally low GD. We stumbled over the line with 2 draws and 2 defeats in the last 4 games, aided by incredible events at Vicarage rd. You will need more than 79 to go up automatic this season, but more importantly, you will need an in form confident team with self belief and goals in it. For the record, I reckon the 2008 team is better than the current one, even if the players this year are better. Both of them look to be better than 2013.
The 2013 team was better, the players still liked Bruce then. Half the players who have left since then have left because of him and the rest think he's a twat. Davies only signed an extension after it was made clear Bruce wouldn't be here next season.
As I told some simpering **** last week when he said that next year was city of culture for your city, "Every year is City of Culture year in Hull mate."
Funny how you neglect to mention that Bruce has been **** at the end of every season he's managed here.
I really wanted the title, any title in my lifetime, but the play offs are a good laugh and winning at Wembley always a pleasure, we'll do it the hard way as usual.
I aren't being funny but just about every club in the country's fans believe their club does things the hard way. Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs etc all have 'long suffering' fans who think they are steadfasts who have toughed out the wilderness years as their team 'does it the hard way'. I admit though every promotion we've had in recent years has had unexpected setbacks as at Southend, Barnsley, Sheffield United, Wolves etc Probably all Steve Bruce's fault.
