Not sure I would have it out on Derby Day. Possibly vs Coventry and definitely for the Memorial Trophy!
Where would it go? Those animals would somehow get hold of it so probably not a good idea. I agree that it needs to be discussed in more detail about games where it is suitable to do so, particularly if we got promoted as it would make a great sight on a regular basis. I think Cortese said in one of his fans dinners that it was only to come out for the ML Cup every year, which I'm sure would be of great disappointment to all those who donated good money to purchase it.
yeah perhaps in the derby not such a good idea. but it would be nice to see it alot more often, and gives us the chance to show our respect to out late great owner
They said they dont like using it as the family members get upset when they see it. Swear i heard that somewhere
Correct, I was told that too. The club have it, they store it away at St. Mary's I believe. The organiser emails in to discuss when it can be brought out by understand the reply was just for the ML trophy. However, I think they have asked about Coventry.
Come to think about it i remember hearing that from one of Cortese dinners? The don has control of it as far as i know, & i imagine it'll be at st marys
Nicola was in favour of the flag and made up the shortfall himself, but the family don't want to see it too often. Remember they don't have a football background so they may not understand that it's being respectful...they just see people cheering and passing round a flag with their relative's face on it which may also be the subject of abuse from opposition fans. Definately not for the derby match where all flags have been banned for Pompey fans. Put up at the Memorial game means it will only be treated with respect. Working that day but determined to get to match...I know its the holiday season but lets try and get a good turn out.
We'd have to respect the families wishes, however do they not have any pictures of Markus up in their homes or offices, or in the Board room at HQ? St Mary's became his surrogate home. I would love to see it for the Cov game or the first home game in the Prem. Can you imagine it being shown in the credits each week on MOTD... awesome. The family must be respected, but I would politely point out that we became his family too.
They have permitted his photo to be put up in the Leihberr Lounge, but again no would disrespect him in there. At the Memorial Game, the flag is laid out. I suspect it's having it passed around that they don't like.
