Yup, the controversial figurine is being taken away today. please log in to view this image "The statue of Michael Jackson outside Craven Cottage is set to be removed by former Fulham owner Mohamed Al Fayed. Al Fayed, who sold the club to Shahid Khan for £150 million in the summer, had previously stated the statue would remain outside the ground, saying in July: "Michael Jackson will stay. He can't go, he is here. It is part of the deal, it is history, it is listed. You can't change otherwise I will come and take your moustache in public. He knows that." However, there has been a change of heart from Al Fayed, and now the Jackson statue will be moving to one of his properties. A spokesperson for Fulham said of the statue which was put up in 2011: "The statue is not part of the Riverside development of the stadium and will be returned to the former chairman in due course."
Hooray, indeed. And Cottager, you're an evil man for that subject line. It made me think Kahn had done something much more radical and (for some of us at least) unwelcome.
A part of me is a little bit sad. It is incredibly naff but also quite Fulhamish... ... no, **** it, I'm glad it's gone!
Yes. My heart gave a little lurch when I saw that. He may not be perfect but he's the best there is available at the moment. Unless anyone thinks Curbishley is the answer.
not a fulham fan but thank **** for that - total embarrassment for the fans imo i mean lets put a ****ing jimmy saville statue up eh - fayeds a twat
The amount of people I saw taking a photo of it or posing next to it for a photo over the years, plus from what I know the memorabilia in the shop sold well, led me to believe that we under estimated our chairmans feelings (if misguided at our Football ground) for someone who was iconic, and in every sense a world famous person and a friend of his. Personally I wasn't embarrassed by it, as one visit didn't make him associated with Fulham. The most annoying thing to me was the amount of media that had never seen it but kept on reporting on it that thought it was a statue Outside the ground. Only a few days ago Alan Brazil asked why they didn't have a statue of someone like Johnny Haynes instead. You couldn't make it up.
Even security have given up stopping people climbing up to have there photo taken with it. I've kinda got used to it at half time now... Not that I'd want it to stay but a tiny bit of me will miss it!
Totally naff, but as said it grows on you. speaking to one of the stewards a couple of weeks age He estimated in excess of 50 people have their photo taken on match days. I would suggest a bust of Mo would be a fitting replacement.
My mate used the 2 inch drainage pipe sticking out the wall as a step to climb up to the statue and broke it. I'm still shocked security didn't turf us out!
So you come on here and infer something about our ex-Chairman, but when it's nearer home you don't know anything about it. Tarbuck has not been found guilty yet, so was wondering if Liverpool were treating him as innocent before guilt has been established, or whether they had dis-associated with him till after the trial. Simple question.
We dont have a Tarbuck statue last time i checked so again, i dont see the relevance, and again i dont know, im not his lawyer
I was curious as how you treat one of your own, if you'd disown him or give him the doubt until found guilty. Bet there were a few Photos of him and players etc, wonder if they are still on the walls. And you obviously don't live or go to Liverpool games 'cause I'd guess the local newspapers would have reported about him.
WTF you babbling on about ffs was Micheal Jackson your uncle or something? i thought most Fulham fans would be pleased the peedo statue was gone. show me on the doll where he touched you.... please log in to view this image
Ahem. Can I ask why this piqued your interest so much that you felt it necessary to come on here and tell us how we're supposed to feel about a story that, in the grand scheme of things, is pretty insignificant? SBM is clearly responding to your claim that we have a statue of a *****phile outside our ground. No need to play dumb.
Someone else who only listens to the likes of Talksport etc, and the worst part believes them, as they have never been to Fulham. We have a statue of Johnny Haynes outside the main entrance to the Stand in Stevenage Road. Fayed put the Jackson statue in a corner of walkway facing the River because he had wanted it outside Harrods store but had just sold Harrods, and being a bit of a business man, he marketed merchandise and loads of Tourist to visit for tours to see the statue. I think most Fulham fans would want to see a statue to Fayed put in it's place, as he has been the person who has saved our club.
my interest comes from the fact I don't like peedos (dint mind them as a kid ) I didn't tell anyone how they should feel, tbh I dint care. dunno why so defensive tbh. the statue was a ridiculous idea IMO regardless of any cash it may have brung in. tarbucks a fuking peedo too if that makes ya feel better?
