It will be a disaster if this match is played out to a handful of supporters - I hope the club hasn't misjudged the willingness of our support to watch this game. I know it cost them a fortune to bring our illustrious opponents to the Walkers but it will be so counter productive to everyone if we don't turn out in numbers to support the Consortium and their moves to turn us into a massive club
Agreed. I hope they get a massive show of support but I did expect it to be cheaper. On saying that, I won't be going because I will be flying back from my hols. btw - this means I will go very quiet on the message boards for a bit. This doesn't mean I am thinking of or have joined another club!
Around 5,000 or so that would have came will now not imo!! Ridiculous pricing! More than a league game!
They should of charged Season ticket holders a tenner and every one else 20. No more. That way they will make a nice profit and everyone is happy
How much was an average league game last season (I'm a season ticket holder so had no need to check). I can understand why they might want to put it up because the quality of the oppositon is higher than a Championship game but, having said that, there's not as much riding on this one. At least they've put a decent period of time between season-ticket holders sale and general sale to reward us. And there will probably be enough fans there just to see Real Madrid to ensure it's a sell-out.
Just priced up to take the family will set me back £150 (including food,drink,programme etc.) and thats without the new shirt!!!
It is more expensive than a Platinum Fixture was last season. That's the thing for me, I'm aware of the quality of the opposition but that only makes the game more attractive for me if it's a competitive game. For example Man City, that game was massive because it was against them in the FA Cup, an important competition. If we played the big Clubs in the Prem it would mean something because we were amongst the elite and competing with them. But at the end of the day this is just a friendly, and so not only do the passion and emotions get more or less taken out of equation, so does most of the atmosphere. These things are my motivation for going to football matches. I don't go for the opposition. I don't particularly respect these well paid stars anyway, yeh they've got silky skills but I can see them on TV, it' not like I would get much excitement from seeing them in the flesh. I can't afford to go to every away game so I'd rather save up and spend it on more of those. It's not like anyone's support will be missed for this game. I think it will still be close to a sell-out. So just for me personally it doesn't seem worth it.
Just goes to show how football clubs are so out of touch with their fans. Put the prices at 15 for adults & 10 for kids & O.A.P´s & you will have 32,500 fans packing Filbert way. This is stopping a family of 4 or 5 from going to watch A FRIENDLY GAME of football & I am shocked. I watched Borussia Dortmund v Real Madrid in a champs lge game once & I think I paid about 36 quid for it, I also watched Liverpool v Alves in the UEFA cup final & paid 30 quid for that, yes it was awhile ago now but I´m just trying to make the point that money in football is getting silly, fans being priced out & games being put on just to make money. "WHAT IS FOOTBALL WITHOUT THE FANS ?"
I hope the club read not 606 - £150 for a family to watch a friendly is unrealistic - If there was a will there would be a way to avoid this - say 3 or 4 kids free with two adult tickets. The youngsters are our supporters of tomorrow and it would be catastrophic if they missed out on this opportunity to become entranced by football and world stars for a few quid - This is a great opportunity to win them for ever

Far too expensive for a friendly match. I can see why the club would want to recoup the fee they've paid Real for it, but £30 for a kick-a-bout? Ridiculous. I will probably still go, mainly because I may never see Real playing in our stadium again, but I think a £10-£15 structure would've been well appreciated and would have given a full house, which I can't see happening now.
I think we have to put things into perspective here, first of all the club has made an audacious bid to get a team of the calibre of Real Madrid. In my opinion they have pulled off an amazing friendly for the supporters of this club, when will we ever see Real Madrid play at the Walkers again, I can take my 2 boys and in future they can proudly say "Yes our Dad took us to watch Leicester v Real Madrid" fantastic fixture and may I say that it is another indication of the owners and Sven's ambitions to be able to attract a team like this. It is Real Madrid's ONLY friendly in this country before their season begins and I have to say I am well impressed. Money well spent as long as we dont get drubbed and give a good account of ourselves. Not many teams outside the BIG 5 would have got a friendly with Real, so come on stop whinging and get yer dough out and support the famous Foxes.
Easy now Silver - There's no disputing the kudos that goes with this fixture and yes the owners have done fantastically well to set it up. I will pay the amount because I can - forfoxsake priced it up at £150 for his family, I don't know of his financial circumstances, it may be that they cannot spare that amount of money for a friendly regardless of who we are playing and it is a sad fact that there will be many families out there who will not be able to afford this match. Proud Fox got it spot on - There should be family tickets to make it affordable so tomorrows supporters can be captured
I'm sorry but can the fans get real here. I understand the cost implications to the average family, some of which may really be struggling financially..... but... We have a friendly at home against one of, if not the most iconic team in the world, packed full of stars and this doesn't come cheap. If fans want their cake and eat it then become Man U fans. If fans want games against Bradford pre-season go an support a lower team. We are Leicester City. Not massive not small. Very little history in Europe and therefore must be REALISTIC that this is probably the only time we'll ever see such a team in Leicestershire. On this one occasion I say fans should pay up, support the ambitions of our owners and turn up for this wonderful occasion. Up the Foxes!!
Dirkster, the ambitions of our owners are to get to the Premiership. Whilst I agree this friendly is a good occassion I wouldn't say it's linked to that aim. No points will be gained and I doubt there's a deal involving us signing Kaka if 32,000 turn up! I shall do my very best to support the ambitions of the owners when the season starts. This is when the support might help the team and help us to achieve the ambitions. I'm not against the friendly at all, I think it's a great idea. However, nobody told them to pay Real Madrid to give us a friendly. If they want a good return from fans in terms of buying tickets for it that's another matter though. I'm sure Top is very excited about the game but he can't expect every Leicester fan to see it as the biggest game of the season, as the pricing suggests. I've not slated them for the prices of tickets, I've just said that me myself can't see it being worth it. If people want to/can afford to go then good, but I don't blame anyone who doesn't.
Emilio, I see another way of looking at this fixture: *This is a game about our stature in the local area / country. Fans locally getting the chance, hopefully with their kids, to watch Real Madrid. For all we know the game might even get onto a TV Station? Sky / ESPN etc? *I've got a mate (fan of a London team, but never watches them in the flesh) who dare not go for fear his son will start showing more interest in LCFC. His lad will have friends actually going to the game no doubt boasting of the chance to see the biggest team in the world. *Before and after the game the playgrounds of Leicester and Leicestershire will be full of talk of Ronaldo, Kaka etc and Leicester City in the same breath. *I get the cost, but I would sooner help pay for this particular game and it's potential benefit to our Status, hoping the owners are encouraged to spend more on players before the fair play finance rule starts next season. * So yes, the game is a glorified kick about, but I think it means much more than 1 league fixture and 3 points. This is about the kids, the future and our status locally. * Un-official reports claim it's cost just under £1,000,000 to put on, so either this is just an ego-trip game for the Thai's or it's about all of the above. We'll never know, but I personally want to support them at the moment. ###Forgot to add that this game is still way cheaper for Leicester City fans than ALL the tickets that'll be available for the QPR v Wigan fixture this season coming. It's worth putting this into perspective###
