http://www.themag.co.uk/2017/08/sky...pproach-aleksandar-mitrovic-newcastle-united/ Hmmmm - would have to be a sale surely?
I'm in a minority but I don't want him to go. In fact I'd go as far as to say I want him to be our main striker. If Rafa has no intention in playing him though then he may as well leave
He should stay, Gayle is not EPL standard and no prospect of getting better so I'd sell him before Mitro all day every day.
I want Mitro to stay!! There is so much potential there and he loves the club. I'd have him as our first choice striker too!!!
Keep him and play him in some crazy radical two up front formation so the 2nd striker (I know) can feed ed off the big man.
I bet you we sell mitro, de Jong, colback, lazaar, Hanley and riviere, then Charnley will contrive to duck it all up and we'll be left with Kennedy on loan. The line is coming.
I'm convinced if he gets made the main CF he will score goals. Get someone playing closer to him then better still. We will.nevwr find out though
If I was going to sell anyone, it would be Perez and it'd go towards funding a quality number 10/second striker. It is that position that would unlock the goals in Gayle and in Mitrovic.
It would be a problem if one of them didn't drop back and provide some assistance in midfield. Which basically makes it a 4-4-1-1 formation, which is essentially the same as 4-2-3-1 - the only difference you can say is one of your CMs having licence to go forwards more (or not) and to be fair it was said in pre-season that Shelvey would probably have that licence this year. On the 2 up top debate, it is about the quality we have for me because with Perez it is 2 up top, it's just we don't have a good enough player there. I don't think either Mitrovic or Gayle are capable of that second striker role. Has to be said, though, while Shelvey has the ability to go forward in CM, I'm not sure we have a replacement in that role when he's out (although I haven't seen Merino play yet).
I still think 4-4-2 would work and play a more direct style. The bore that is 4-5-1 on 3-5-2 is draining the life out of games with needless passing and farting around by the top teams to control games. Get two up top. Two good wingers who can cross a ball and two fit cm who are willing to graft and drop deep sometimes to stifle the boredom of the top 6. Move the ball faster and up top will make us more entertaining and although I agree we might come undone at least we will see action. Not this sit back and watch the opponents play ****e. In the hope we can defend for 90 minutes and scrape a 0-0. This season and the back end of last season we where complete and utter garbage to watch. And bloody boring. I am sure we will lose against West Ham this weekend because we will sit back and sit deep in the hope of keeping a clean sheet and a lucky break.
