MITO's Block of Four...

  1. As many of you will know, MITO has regularly looked at the fixtures in groups of four games. With each group this season, we should be aiming for at least eight points. This would give us an average of two points a game and a end total of around 76 points which translates as potential CL material. This is an approach I like and agree with so thought I'd point out our first group of the league season:

    Home to Stoke = 3pts
    Away to Villa = 3pts
Home to Man UTd = 3pts
    Away to Swansea = ?

This highlights how good a start we have been IMO, especially if we beat Swansea which would give us a four point cushion in another group of four when we inevitable have a bad patch of form.

This with plenty of room for improvements too, not to mention Suarez missing although his return may not be the best thing for the team:

Since Suarez got banned, Liverpool have:
    - picked up twenty-two points from a possible twenty-four
    - scored seventeen goals (average of 2.125 per game)
    - conceded three goals (average of 0.375 per game)

    Marker / prediction:

A pessimistic aim would be 72pts (1.89pts per game) with optimistic being 80 points (2.1pts per game) making the mid-range prediction at 76 points (2pts per game).

thanks for point out my genius....

I would dare point out however that this bank of 4 games requires completion but...

    Southampton H
    Sunderland A
    Crystal Palace H
    Newcastle A

I think any LFC fan would have to hope that we could pick up at least another 9 points out of this lost and hell make it 12..... It'll be important to sustain this little run of 1-0's as long as possible. but we must be realistic. stoke missed a pen... villa were all over us and utd... well they had moyes... <laugh>

We can and must continue to improve over the next month as we integrate new players in and old ones back into the side.

If we can race to 254 points out of 24... oh wow...dream land

I will however refrain from charting our progress against a target this season.

One game at a time lads.

Re. Swansea - Man Utd are poor going forward IMO unless RVP and Rooney are on song and create something out of nothing. As we saw earlier this season, if we can get the first goal against Swansea, they will be there for the taking.

Swans away will be difficult but we're playing well and I would hope for at least a point.

  7. I do take one game at a time, only Swansea remmain in.the first mini-group.

However, if you look ahead the four games is a good way of doing it. It can be based on current form etc

They've been poor since they reached the final of the League cup. Coutinho should be able to find a lot of space.

I originally came to this thread expecting it to be about Mito's testicles based on the title.

    On topic:
This block is a good cross-section of the league too.

    United a top 4 hopeful.
Aston Villa, a team who will be aiming at upper half.
Stoke and Swansea teams who will likely be toward the smellier end of the table.

Glad for the wins but think we've been awfully lucky so far... but we've scrapped and won against all levels. Some years we kill the top teams but lose against the bottom. Last year that was reversed.

We've beat a cross section now. Hopefully Swansea too.

Excellent start. Take a draw on Sunday, 10 points from 12 is an excellent start. Then as has been said, 3 very winnable games in there with Southampton & Palace at home and an indifferent Sunderland away. Newcastle will be a strange one, depends which one turns up but they seem beatable at the moment.
