Who should pop up on my TV last night? None other than celebrity cab driving Dad of a dead popstar Mr Mitch Winehouse. And what was he doing? Apparently addressing Members of Parliament to dig them out over lack of funding for drug rehabilitation units. He reckons that if there had been more of them his hound of a daughter wouldn't have gone to meet her maker. Is this the same Mitch Winehouse who got his own chat show and interviewed David "The Hoff" Hasslehoff on the finer points of fatherhood? So a man who is found slumped on his toilet absolutely sh*tfaced by his daughter being given tips by the Dad of a smack/crack p*ssy-pants addict on the trials and tribulations of parenting. He now wants to set up an Amy Winehouse drug clinic in memory of his dear departed. Touching isn't it? If I lost my kid to drugs I'd be sat at home crying my eyes out, not showing off in front of the cameras lecturing MP's on their efforts to help heroin addicts. Amy might have been addicted to Class A drugs but her Dad looks like he is just as much addicted to shoving his face in front of a camera. Famous for a dead daughter. No class.
He has no class at all. Living off his daughter's fame when she was alive is one thing, but now that she's dead?
What really annoys me is these people don't give a **** until it happens to someone they love. Now he wants to set up a clinic to help people with drug and alcohol problems. I'm sure it will be your average council estate junkie who gets offered a place on it eh? Nah, it'll be more like the Priory where some rich ****wit with more money than sense goes once a year to "dry out" while the owners pocket a small fortune handing out placebos. But the very worst of it is that, because of the name Winehouse, he'll get tonnes of publicity for the clinic while ordinary people who devote their lives to helping your typical junkies will get nothing.
Hate the fella. I remember watching a programme before and they were asking who the fella thinks he is. He was leaving his flat/house wearing dark shades and storming past the media as if he was the famous one. Then he stopped and with a grin started talking to the media. Think his ex-wife fell out with him for the same reason, using his daughter to make himself famous. Now he'll no doubt continue to do the same.
I wonder how much of the royalties the familty has earned earned since she died will go to charity.........
