Just seen in the Journal today they reckon we'll miss out on Erdinc too. We are gradually missing out on ALL of our striking targets:

    Gameiro
    Gervinho
    Erdinc
    Wickham

Also, supposedly we're not gonna go for Sturridge.

Anyone starting to get a little worried? What other options are there? I'm usually positive but starting to worry after such a good start to the transfer window, we're starting to miss out.

Failure to pull in big players may also lead to us losing players like Enrique of course, if they don't see any ambition.

I promise this will be my last pessimistic post! :emoticon-0100-smile

Don't think we were ever in for Wickham were we? Don't rate Sturridge so not really bothered about him. I'm sure Graham Carr/Pardew have back up targets, can't expect to get everyone on our wish list.

Sturridge available for £20M, apparently. You've got the cash, but I hope you don't get him as he'd be a real quality purchase. Him and Ba would be a bit tasty...

Im convinced Cisse will join your French lads, also just for a bit of "crossing the Tyne/Wear divide controversy to be thrown in (And this is not wumming, he is a genuinely handy striker, would go well with Ba)

    I truly detest Cisse.

If anyone should be branded with term '****wit' on their forehead; he's the prime candidate.

This is what worries me! We're missing out on the BACK UP targets now. If you believe the rumours, Wickham was on the radar but considered too expensive.

Loving the Sturridge optimism from some people - I don't think it's likely myself.

Sturridge is far too ball greedy, couldn't get a game at Chelski or Citeh, had half a decent season at Bolton but still only got 8 or 9 goals, hardly prolific.

8 goals in only 12 appearances is pretty bloody prolific. It's a goal every 1.5 games, which is the same ratio as Carlos Tevez.

Agree with your point but Carroll only had 11 top flight goals last season before he went

I guess the worry is that Sturridge could be a flash in the pan. Whilst Ba has a consistent record, look at Sturridge's previous, form. Hardly prolific, although he is still young. But I always am wary of anonymous players who suddenly turn on the style. It strikes me as though they are just playing for a bigger pay day. Pretty much what Elmander did at Bolton, appalling for 2 seasons, great for half of his last one, then leaves for Turkey and a bumper pay packet.

I hate that argument. I think we'd all have happily have taken most of City and Chelsea's strikers that have been getting games for them the past 3 seasons...especially 2 years ago when Chelsea were knocking goals in for fun

I would be physically sick if we signed Cisse, what a **** he is.

As for Wickham, don't think we were ever in for him. Would love Sturridge but that one won't happen. I reckon Graham Carr has someone up his sleeve!
