According to a reputable source, people on minimum wage in the UK are in the top 10% of earners worldwide:
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cricket/31011948

Should we lower the minimum wage so that our businesses can compete with the rest of the world?

    No.

Raise it to £10 and force multinationals to pay overseas workers a fair wage too.

Further proof that David and Gideon have managed to drag the UK out of the doldrums.

    Long may their reign continue.

That is why we don't buy cars made here or produce many things to sell to other countries .
Wages are going up in China at such a rate that they will have to put up prices on everything they sell us and we have no choice but to buy it because it will still be cheaper than making it in the UK.
I noticed their highest note is ¥100 just over £10 & if you buy something like a £2000 watch you need a brick of notes .
My wife took out £6k in cash and they put it in a big paper bag and i had to carry it to another bank for her , she said if they started making ¥500 notes then the small denominations would become worthless.
Things like tv's fridges washing machines & cars are the same or more expensive here so the days of paying **** wages for labour are not possible anymore.
A bus or subway ride is about 30p compared to about £2 min on a London tube min .
They don't get taxed to **** so they keep more of their salary .

There's still a huge amount of people who haven't got TVs and fridges and who want them - the cheap labour will get a boost elsewhere (mostly India I'd guess) as the Chinese demand a western lifestyle, and there will be a much bigger market in the likes of China for premium western products (it's already happening, I believe Apple made almost as much money in China last year as it did in Europe...). A bigger middle class in the developing world will be good for us, as long as we can innovate in recycling and energy to keep pressure on commodities down.

They like apple stuff but technically they still make them in PRC.
Other brands doing well are Citroen all the police and taxis are the same model
German cars VW BMW etc German appliances Bosch Siemens etc Hersheys Orio Cookies luxury USA junk snacks but I am yet to see anything from UK apart from Chivas 18 year old blended for £65 litre and maybe a jar of Colman's mustard.
Starbucks Mcdonalds Pizzahut and KFC are big here especially Starbucks £5 for a tall latte , Burberry is polular and Rolex .
I imagine Thorntons would do well here but the UK sends massive container ships back to China empty because they don't want our stuff.

It's the problem with social media Mick - he's seen a fact that has amazed him (shocked me too actually). 20 years ago he'd have mentioned it to all his mates in the changing room and the pub and what have you but now he sticks it on Twitter or facebook. Too many Twitter users have perma rage I think. That said, even if "Stay humble" was aimed at himself he probably shouldn't have used it in that instance as i can see why people thought it was aimed at them.

Supposedly, Oxfam are saying that next year, 1% of the population of the world will have more money than the other 99% combined.

Turns out if you have £500k worth of assets you're in that 1%, which means basically anyone in SE who owns a home.

Yes, buy a house when you're young while everyone else is spunking money on Peugeot 206s and holidays to Ibiza - next thing ya know you're part of the Global Ruling Elite and Oxfam wants to chop your head off.

Clearly Stuart Broad is a bit of a twat. A clueless **** in fact, of the sort our country seems to keep on turning out. But in a free society all right minded individuals will defend to the death his right to chat utter bollocks on social media. It's what our grandfathers beat Hitler for.

Actually no, **** that. Let's lynch him

Getting back to the O P, school leavers and your hard working migrants on minimum wage can't afford to buy houses in the S E Mick .
If you are part of the 1% Elite then then I would put bars on your windows because when the poor get too hungry they will just break in and eat you and your family.
At least the yanks are allowed guns to protect themselves.
