....that Powell sets us up to win the game, or even better still, play attacking & exciting football in front of our fans. One point from hardly onerous fixtures v Bournemouth, Boro and Barnsley means that a win tomorrow is an imperative. I would love to see an attacking 4-4-2 ,with Cousins right in the middle instructed to bomb forwards and get the ball wide to Harriott and Evina (playing in front of Solly). Piggot and Church to start up front, with Yann to come on for impact in the second half. No more Cautious Chris 4-5-1 tactics involving central midfielders with a combined age of 159, and the sole sum of our "tactics" being a 60 yard high ball from Morrison in the vague direction of Yann. No more chances for palpable duds, faint hearts and league Two chaff like Green, Wilson, Stephens. Yes, we all know that our owners are want away Man City fan absent landlord dilettantes, but don't let's use this as a smokescreen to disguise that fact that our manager could also DO BETTER..starting tomorrow !
P.S: the on going absence of transfer activity this week is truly pathetic and alarming. Surely we are signing an experienced back up keeper, and a winger and striker ? We really are not going into the next four months with this squad, are we ? Are the owners waiting for a big money bid for one of our players who are out of contract in four months
The reason that there is no transfer activity is THAT THERE IS NO MONEY.The only way that we are going to bring someone in is if someone goes out. As someone has not gone out we can't bring someone in,simples. The loan window doesn't shut at the end of the month so we still have time. Powell, I believe, wants to bring three players in and ship out three. Stephens getting injured has rather scuppered his plans.
The team I think Powell will play Hamer(if fit,I hear he has dislocated a finger) Solly,Morrison,Cort,Wiggins Pritchard,Cousins,Gower,Harriott Kermy,Church Subs Pope,Dervite,Green,Pigott,Sordell,Evina,Hollands With that team I can see us losing 2-0. A very weak midfield.
what has Dervite done to deserve being dropped ? He has been our top player so far this season. He is the best DD since Sam Fox was in her pomp
Fully understand that, which is why the manager has to be creative in the loans market. Lawrie Wilson is a good example. It is rumoured that we still owe Stevenege £400k for him, and its overdue. Given that it looks unlikely he will ever cut the mustard at Championship level, shouldn't the manager be making an active effort this week to ship him out ? He might be, I just pose the question.
Assuming Jackson is still out, I would play...... Hamer Solly, Morro, Cort, Wiggins Wilson, Pritch, Cousins, Evina Church, Kermo Subs: Pope, Dervite, Green, Sordell, Pigott, Gower, Harriott When things are not going for you....you knuckle down and grind out a result so would have Pritchard's industry over the more technically able Gower alongside the emerging Cousins. Harriott for me doesnt look as dangerous as he did last season when he was an unknown quantity, I would just reign him in for a game or two to have up our sleeve as an impact sub, Evina more than capable of threatening down the left.
For me I would have... Hamer Solly - Morrison - Dervite - Wiggins Pritchard - Cousins - Gower - Evina Church - Kermorgant Subs: Pope, Cort, Wood, Wilson, Harriott, Sordell, Pigott I agree with Thurrock Addick... Harriott hasnt seen quite so dangerous the last few weeks and maybe dropping him to the bench will give him (a) a rest (b) turn him into an impact sub for a few weeks and (c) will hopefully have the Hamer effect of being on the bench and wanting to prove everyone wrong when he gets back into the eleven
Not confident at all about this one, especially as I'll be there... Heart says 1-1 and a damned hard game. Head says 0-2 and a damned hard game.
You want Evina on the right wing? Don't disagree with the rest of your team though. Pigott and Church looked really good against Oxford (yes, I know they're 2 divisions below us). And Yann looks like he could do with a bit of a rest.
church and piggott up front for me. play sordell on the left (harriott looks out of form). hughes and dale in the middle with pritch on the right. still think we'll lose 1-0 though
Like your first XI. Has some energy and tackle-power in midfield. Not much creativity there, so we would be relying on Solly and Wiggins to get forward and provide that, which they should be able to do with more confidence with Wilson and Evina to help them out. Maybe Wood instead of Dervite and certainly Hollands instead of either Green or Sordell. Your team is capable of a single-goal win.
I've already predicted a 2-1 loss, and can't see any reason to change that view. I'm a Little worried about the fall out that may occur if my prediction comes true, but my consolation is that my predictions rarely come to much (though the positive ones invariable jinx us). I'm expecting a poor match tomorrow, where we basically roll over and die when Donny take the lead. Message to the board. No one has ever, Ever, EVER sold a football club wich has just lost to Doncaster, so maybe time to invest in a player or three (or all the good ones'l be gone, and we'll end up with sixteen year olds and road accident victims.
I'm going for a confidence boosting 3 1 win I'd bring Pritchard and Cousins into midfield and make Pritchard captain in the absence of Jacko goalscoreres church with 2 and Yan with the other Happy Valley
You came close, Thurrock. I suppose CP is hoping to nick an early goal so prefers the Harriotts to Evina. And he feels he needs Gower to mentor Cousins in CM so Pritchard is pushed out to RM. For this line-up to work it will need Gower to perform his defensive duties in midfield reliably. I cannot see that happening. Charlton Athletic 01 Hamer 05 Morrison 16 Wiggins 20 Solly 28 Cort 11 Harriotts 14 Pritchard 24 Cousins 27 Gower 09 Church 18 Kermorgant Substitutes 30 Pope 03 Evina 06 Dervite 07 Green 23 Wilson 10 Sordell 35 Pigott
