Off Topic Minimum alcoholic unit charge.....Good or bad..

Scotland have made a law on the minimum charge for a unit of alcohol that you buy and as sure as eggs are eggs Wales will follow suit in the near future....Is this a good idea or not.
I see these 2 ltr bottles of cheap beers/lager/ ciders that you can buy for £2 or £3 quid going up from today to £5 +.....It will make your night out a more expensive that's for sure....Ok it will hit those living on a budget worst but is that a bad thing......I dont drink myself but i know the members of my family who do and what it costs for a night out and it's not cheap.......I'm all for the rise if it can stop the many drunks we have roaming our streets and the chaos we see down places like wind street. Scotland are very brave to be the first to introduce this minimum charge but no doubt the rest of the UK will follow suit....

 

The cheap alcohol will just disappear off the shelves as shops will stop selling it as it will not be financially viable.
Thus more money for the brewers as the "more" expensive alcohol is bought.

 

Government/Breweries are in a win win situation...

 

Same as cigarettes - people will still buy the stuff - they'll just pay more for it.

 

And petrol.

 

Things will get much worse once/if we leave the EU. you can bet on it...

Paying more for cigarettes and alcohol is a good thing to me.

Alcahol needs more control so I'm in favour of the increase, it's been far too cheap for the kids who do not understand the damage to your health that overuse can do..........
