MILLWALL v WATFORD The Den Wednesday 19th October 2022 Kick Off : 2000 BST please log in to view this image Millwall made a slow start to the season, picking up just seven points from their first seven games, but they have since shown signs of improvement, and are currently on a two-game winning streak. The Lions ran out 2-0 winners against Middlesbrough in their last match at The Den, with Zian Flemming scoring a brace, before following it up with a 2-1 win away at Bristol City on Saturday. It was again Flemming who was the match-winner for his side, capitalising on an error from the Bristol City defence to score his fifth goal of the season, securing an important three points in the process. The result was a first Championship away win of the season for Gary Rowett's side, who have been much more impressive at The Den, amassing 15 points from seven games on home soil, the fourth-best home record in the league. Watford are also in the hunt for the playoff places, currently two points from sixth place, aiming to ensure a return to the Premier League at the first time of asking. Such is the congested nature of the Championship however, two wins in four since bringing in Slaven Bilic means that the visitors are still well within reach of promotion this season, only five points off top-of-the-table Burnley. A victory in Watford's last match was particularly impressive, defeating fellow promotion hopefuls Norwich City 2-1 at Vicarage Road, courtesy of first-half goals from Imran Louza and Keinan Davis. With a good recent record against Millwall, only being defeated in one of the last seven meetings between the two sides, The Hornets will be travelling to The Den full of confidence that they can continue their rise up the Championship table. please log in to view this image The referee who sent off four players in Sheffield United’s fiery 3-3 draw with Blackpool on Saturday is set to take charge of Watford’s trip to Millwall on Wednesday night. David Webb reduced the Seasiders to nine men after Marvin Ekpiteta and Dominic Thompson were dismissed for second yellow cards in the latter stages of the second half at Bramall Lane, and then also sent off Shayne Lavery and Blades keeper Wes Foderingham after full-time following a mass bust-up.
This is the first game of the season I've actually been able to attend in person, looking forward to it!
Will not be joining you tonight as I wish to maintain good relations so we are going out for a meal as it's our wedding anniversary. If I had realised eons ago that our anniversary would clash with a match I would have changed our wedding day . As matter of principle I do not get my mobile out in a restaurant, so rude! COYH and enjoy the game all.
Completely unrelated, but I tried to change my wedding date from February 22nd to February 29th. My intended was awake to me though and took over the job of organising things. Enjoy your meal - and when it's over and you rush to turn your phone on, I hope you enjoy the result.
WatfordFC expect Imran Louza to be available for tonight’s fixture v Millwall and haven’t received any notification from the FA that a decision on his charge will be made before tonight. Was vital in win versus
One change from Saturday, with Pollock coming in to make his first Championship start! Cathcart is left out as a precaution, having recently returned from injury.
Just been noted elsewhere no central defensive cover on the bench... Let's hope we don't rue that later.
Not sure that having no cover on the bench will be something we can rue - I don't think we have any other cover to put there.
