Competition - Sky Bet Championship Venue - The New Den Date - 26 April 2025 Kick off - 3pm Following their hard fought, but fully deserved away victory over QPR, next up for Alan Sheehan’s Swansea squad is a tough looking trip to face a Millwall team chasing a Play-Off place. On Easter Monday, the Swans continued their outstanding late-season form as they held on at Queens Park Rangers to secure a fifth successive Championship victory. The Swans took control before half-time as QPR defender Morgan Fox turned Josh Tymon's cross into his own net. Alan Sheehan’s team deservedly doubled their advantage early in the second period when Harry Darling swept in from close range, with Rangers finally coming into the contest when Karamoko Dembele drilled in off the post with almost his first touch after coming off the bench. But the Swans protected their lead with relative comfort from that point on to ensure this was another positive day for caretaker boss Alan Sheehan. The Irishman, who is charge until the summer as things stand, further strengthened his case to be named head coach on a permanent basis having overseen what is now Swansea's longest winning league run since 2007. Indeed, reports this morning (Friday) suggest that Sheehan and the Club are in detailed talks about a long-term deal, with hopes that an announcement could be made before the Oxford match a week tomorrow. The Swans have taken 23 points in 11 matches since Luke Williams departed in February. Sheehan's side stay 11th in the table, six points short of the play-off spots, with Rangers seven points worse off in 15th having seen their five-game unbeaten run come to an end. Whilst the Swans were winning at Loftus Road, Millwall were bouncing back from their Good Friday defeat at Blackburn with a 3-1 victory at home to free-falling Norwich to keep the Lions firmly in the Championship play-off hunt. Mihailo Ivanovic smashed in Millwall's close-range opener from Femi Azeez's cross before the winger got his own goal following a set-piece. Norwich responded just before half-time via defender Shane Duffy's header but any hopes of a comeback were quelled midway through the second half by Ivanovic's second goal of the game. The win moves Millwall up to eighth, within three points of the play-offs with two games to go, after a day when several of their top-six rivals lost, while Norwich slip to 14th. The Swans have played The Lions on 59 previous occasions, winning 24, losing 22 and drawing 13. In last season’s corresponding encounter, the Swans ran out comfortable 3-0 victors: Turning to tomorrow, with Millwall still in the hunt for a Play-Off place, and it being their final home match of the season, The New Den will be a very challenging place for the Swans to play. That said, both teams are in fine form; So the Swans are certainly playing well enough not to be intimidated by the ‘hostile’ atmosphere likely to be generated by the home crowd who will recognise that the Tigers will have to almost certainly win to maintain any hopes of getting a Play Off place. I’m going for a 1-1 draw
Looking forward to an action packed day as I'll also be watching the "vidi-printer" , so to speak, as the Swans win 1 - 3
31 January when Grimes left: Coventry 29 played 38pts Swansea 29 played 34pts When Williams was sacked: Coventry 33 played 47pts Swansea 33 played 37pts Today: Coventry 44 played 66pts Swansea 44 played 60pts
Hmmm Millwall are not as **** as they usually are and I have a feeling they may beat us on this occasion. Millwall 1-2 Swansea That’s just hoping.
View from inside the camps: Lawrence Vigouroux: "We've been really solid at the back recently, our defensive record has shown that. We've got to keep working hard, that's the most important thing for everybody. "It'll be another tough game against Millwall, but all the other games have been tough recently. We've just got to go in and play the way we've been playing the last couple of games. "We've dominated a lot of teams on the ball, and we've been very dangerous in the final third. "If we continue that, and stick to our game plan, it'll be a really good game. "Millwall need to win as well, but we're going to go there and show we can go toe-to-toe with them and get the three points." Alex Neil: “I just think from our perspective, we are just literally going into each game, attacking it as if it’s our last game. "We try to win it as much as we can and put everything into it and then see where it takes us at the end of it. “I think home form, to get the fans onside, to get that belief is really important. That was something I spoke about when I first came here because although we sorted our away form quite quickly, the home form’s probably been a little bit of a slow burner. "Four home wins in a bounce, some really tough games that we’ve had here and it gets the fans right behind the players and there’s a great connection at the moment, which we want to try and maintain.”
Ben Speedie will be the man in the middle for Swansea City’s Championship clash at Millwall on Saturday. The Merseyside-born official will be taking charge of a Swans game for the first time, and this will be just his third Championship fixture. Speedie started officiating in the EFL in 2020 and he recently took charge of the Vertu Trophy final between Peterborough United and Birmingham City at Wembley. He first had the whistle for a second-tier fixture in January as he oversaw Queens Park Rangers’ win at Hull City, and was then at the helm for a game between Norwich City and Sheffield Wednesday last month. On Saturday he will be assisted by Ian Cooper and David Harrison, while Robert Madley will be the fourth official.
Alan Sheehan makes one enforced change for Swansea City's Championship clash with Millwall at The Den. Harry Darling misses out through injury, with Hannes Delcroix taking his place in the starting line-up. Young goalkeeper Kit Margetson comes onto the bench. The caretaker head coach otherwise keeps faith with the line up that secured three points and a fifth win in a row at Queens Park Rangers last time out. That means Lawrence Vigouroux remains in goal behind a back four of Josh Key, Josh Tymon, captain Ben Cabango and Delcroix. Jay Fulton once again slots in alongside Lewis O’Brien and Goncalo Franco in the centre of the park. Ronald and Jisung Eom are on the flanks, with topscorer Liam Cullen leading the line for the Swans.
Yep... they look hungry. I'd say they slightly have the edge so far but this could go either way. Great to see us continuing to push forward.
I’m at Heathrow returning home- just looked at the stats - Millwall 13 shots to our 1. Seems fairly one-sided
