Sunderland visit Millwall in the Sky Bet Championship Last time out Sunderland drew with Boro and Millwall won at Burton. The Black Cat’s will be without Jake Clarke-Salter after his straight red card for a wild challenge on Traore. Paddy McNair is out injured, but with Williams and McManaman both scoring after coming on from the bench they could both feature in the starting line-up. Sunderland may have midfielder Ovie Ejaria available after recovering from a thigh problem, as they look for a vital win against in form Millwall. Chris Coleman: Quote of the season: "You don't want players like wheelbarrows who are only good or useful when you push them. First bump in the road they fall over anyway." “It is going to be a great game at The Den, There is pressure on us and it will be a hard game as they have won three games back to bac. We can bring the points back here, but we will have to show personality.” "For all the pressure that comes with where we are, every game is massive, and you can enjoy those moments depending on how you look at it. If you're not afraid of defeat and failure, these moments are to be enjoyed - it is an addiction, football." “The games are so important now – crazy things happen, scorelines and incidents – in terms of the players being committed to the full 90 minutes I was much happier. If we win tomorrow, the Boro draw will be seen as a turning point.” Form: Match facts: Millwall have lost just one of their last 10 home matches against Sunderland (W6 D2), losing 2-1 in September 1995 under Mick McCarthy. The Black Cats haven't visited The Den in a match in any competition since November, 2004, when they lost 2-0 in the Championship. Millwall haven't won four consecutive matches in the Championship since November, 2012. Sunderland have picked up just five points in 2018, fewer than any other Championship side (P9 W1 D2 L6). Steve Morison has had a hand in seven goals in his last nine Championship outings for Millwall (three goals, four assists). Sunderland boss Chris Coleman has enjoyed just two victories in his last 23 league trips to London (D9 L12), though he did win his last game there in February, 2010 (Crystal Palace 0-1 Coventry). Sports Analytics Machine: Home win (57%) Prutton predicts: 2-0 Match Appointments: Referee: ANDY DAVIES Assistants: Paul Hodskinson and Ian Cooper Fourth Official: Robert Lewis Team Line ups Sunderland: Substitutes: Steele, Jones, Love, Cattermole, McManaman, LuaLua, Ejaria Injured: Watmore (Cruciate – out for season), Ruiter (Dislocated finger 4-9 weeks), Gibson (Groin 4 weeks), McNair (Groin 3 weeks), Rodwell (****), Wilson? This is a tough game at the best of times, but we need to stay strong and hope that Coleman sets up the team with a view to winning it. My guess is a 2-2 draw Ha’way the Lads
You're always on form with these threads mate. Just a shame the club can't match you. For some goddamned reason I don't see us losing this weekend. Unless we concede first, and we're very good at that. So all in all, I haven't got a ****ing clue!
heart says we will win, head says give ower give your head a shake, nee way will we win. so its down to luck fingers and toes crossed till 6pm Saturday
These quality match threads help keep the despair at bay a little bit and we all appreciate them. I think we'd be wise to play Williams and McManaman because they both looked bang up for it. So did McGeady actually, he should start too. I feel harsh saying it, but I've reached the end of my patience for McNair. I wish it had worked out, but he's made of glass and it seems unlikely that he'll have a career in football. It is a shame, but I just don't see it happening cos he can't make it through a game. Waste of a squad space in all honesty.
I'm really enjoying these quotes. Colourful coaches like Chris Coleman make tons of endorsement money in the U.S. We still haven't filled our national team vacancy yet, and Chris Coleman is my top choice!
Sadly I can't see beyond a home win, and I'm just hoping that the lads can prove me wrong. Everything is crossed cos we're desperate for the points.
Just to put it out there, Millwall are unbeaten in the league so far this year and theyve only lost twice all season at home .
Nearly every Millwall player is 6 foot plus and weve got a team of Umpa lumpas so its going to be a tough task. Its a game where we really could have done with McNair playing.
Been talking to my mate whos a big Wall fan and im even less confident. He said alot of their goals come from set pieces. They use their height to theyre advantage. He said they have a 6 foot 5 CB called Cooper that usually wins everything in the air and he tends to head it down for somebody to tap in. It just so happens we are pish poor at defending set pieces.
I was really optimistic for the Brentford game - I even put it on my coupon. Such optimism has now departed sadly. Home win
This is the go-to for most teams in this league from what I have seen, and we can not cope with it, so we have to worry about this game, even so keep the ball down on the deck and we could even beat them, football is a funny game. Haway the lads.
Awesome!! But this is why I don't understand the "Let's not play 5 at the back" as we seem to concede from set pieces more than anything - surely it doesn't matter how many defenders you have on the pitch if you're defending a set piece you have a role and that is the same whether we have 5/3 at the back or 4?? ****ed if I know!!
All I can see is Steve Morison banging a header past a helpless Lee Camp whilst John Oshea stands by like he's just had a blindfold removed and is wondering where the ball is. We'll know for certain if there's a clause in Ashley Fletcher''s loan tomorrow if he starts. They are quite direct and lump balls into the box. Camp for me has been that poor that id actually bring Steele back in I'd go ----------------------Steele----------------------- ------Kone--------Oshea----Browning------ Matthews-------------------------------Oviedo -------------------Ejaria--Honeyman----------- ----------------------McGeady-------------------- --------------------Asoro--Maja----------------- Shame McNair is injured but a chance for Ejaria to come back in. Don't buy the we need someone like Catts in the middle there. Check the stats, Honeyman is our best tackling midfielder and best overall midfielder this season.
Steele? Seriously? Have to say he’s looked comfortably the worst keeper probably in my lifetime!! (I’m 42)
