Here's the injury news There’s big concerns about Burke and Lichaj for the weekend. They’ve not bee back with the group yet. We’ll see how the day unfolds but it’s very unlikely they will be fit. You don’t take risks but I have to see if they’re in a position to take a risk with. More team news I have sat down with de Wijs and I thought he did well on Saturday when he came on. They need to know what they can prove them. Kingsley will be a doubt at the minute. Evandro will not be fit for the weekend and Nouha Dicko is touch and go. Jon Toral isn’t fit but we would like to think his setback isn’t too serious. There’s one or two little worries but that’s football. Adkins on the under-18s result last night It could have been 10-6, it’s an us, it’s a togetherness all together. The first team players there were there off their own back. It’s all about a culture. The work rate and the ability of the under-18s was top drawer. Lewis-Potter scored a great goal. Age has never been a barrier, but when he’s trained with us he has found it challenging. It’s good because he realises he’s got to work hard to get to this standard. We’re driving the culture and making sure there’s a pathway. Adkins on Sheaf I want Max Sheaf to keep developing. Sometimes when a player signs a new deal they have a bit of a dip. But he has done really well, he hasn’t been fazed and he’s got ability. Adkins on Marshall He’s been really good. Again, the culture you want at the football club is the right work ethic. Marshy knows that if he doesn’t perform George Long is ready to take his place. He’s a Scottish international at the end of the day. He’s a good player. We’ve touched on speaking to players, David understood the situation last season but how you’re going to give yourself the opportunity to play is working hard. David being number one leads the culture, he’s exceptional with the youngsters and I’m pleased with the whole goalkeeping department. I’d like to think me and the owner will be sitting down, present or new I haven’t got a clue, to address contracts. Adkins on the takeover I’m really pleased with the way things are going behind the scenes and what we’re doing on the training ground. There’s a big togetherness with everyone. Even when things are going against us nothing is unwavering. The uncertainty is there with the takeover talks. It’s not ideal but we’ll keep going. I don’t know if it’s going to happen before Christmas, as it stands crack on and keep doing what we’re doing. Adkins sums up his first year at the club I’m pleased, there’s good people at this football club. Everyone wants to do well. It’s never easy and we’ve given ourselves the opportunity to stay in the division. We’ve just been firefighting just scrambling from one result to the next. I want the supporters to enjoy it and we’ve done what we can to engage with the supporters. I’d like to think in a year that we’ve done a lot. It’s about building. For a football club there should be a culture and you have to recruit to that culture. I’ve enjoyed my time here and the challenges that have come.
He may go with 3 4 3, Marshall Wijs Elphick Mazuch/Mckenzie Henriksen Irvine Batty Kane Bowen Campbell Turbo or 4 3 3 Marshall Kane Wijs Elphick McKenzie Batty Henriksen Irvine Bowen Campbell Turbo Probably the latter, though Kane and Mckenzie might switch to left back and right back respectively.
In fairness the 2 guys who came on at half time last week both did well so if Lichaj and Burke missing through injury , sure Nigel will just get on with it. As a Southern based supporter who doesn't get to that many games, still looking forward to it. Our forwards last week were as good as I've seen them for a while so reasons to be positive.
City just arrived at Kings Cross as I was getting on a train to Hull. Will Keane left something on the train. I’ve never him run so quick!
