more sad scenes in Millwall's turbulent history Shamefully, serious violence that, after a steamy and increasingly tense second half, broke out between Millwall supporters located to the right of the Royal Box. A bout of prolonged fighting between groups of Millwall fans became increasingly vicious, the atmosphere more toxic and the image of their club tarnished once more. Millwall supporters attacked each other and then the police as defeat was confirmed. Stewards left matters in the hands of the police, who arrived with batons but were then driven back when confronted at a gangway as they tried to restore some measure of control. It is a rare occurrence to see fans fighting each other in British football stadiums these days - and these were Millwall supporters fighting their own in the worst episode of violence witnessed at the new Wembley. While it was not quite a return to the darkest days of the past, there were images that could have been plucked straight from that era. One young female supporter was in tears as fighting raged around her, a fan stripped to the waist was left with blood pouring from facial wounds and another smiled as he made off with a police hat as a souvenir - all caught on camera. What a bunch off assholes
Agreed, utter scumbags. Forget the Met, they needed the West Midlands Police there, armed with tasers. Feel sorry for real Millwall fans as these mindless twats are a cancer on their club. Imagine taking your family to Wembley for a big day like that and seeing these halfwits kick off around you?
It just doesn't add up - wouldn't surprise me if there we a few "foreigners" from another London club (and/or others) that shall remain nameless in the Millwall end
I also think it was non millwall fans within the crowd. But a few points, why was it not a midday game? Without sounding like I'm tarring all millwall fans with the same brush, but the so called fans who were fighting had all day to drink and take drugs. Secondly, and without sounding like I'm condoning it, but why were other events with other teams not reported? How many arrests were made at the Manchester derby Monday? Why is the pitch invasion by Portsmouth fans at brentford not headline news?
I know, I was about 10 yards away from it but that was over a disagreement between a couple of people - not a mass brawl...
