So the club have met with The Met to discuss security arrangements. They say they have listened to feedback about last year's arrangements, and the officers on duty will be local lads who know the area. I've a feeling that last season's arrangements may have put a lot of our fans off this fixture, plus the fact that it is classified as a "Gold" fixture, which means that season-ticket holders can't use this game to bring a free guest. I assume it also means it's dearer. If the club take the view that last season's strategy was a success because there wasn't any trouble, and should therefore be copied again they should let the fans know ASAP.
The only thing plus side to that day last season was that despite watching us lose 2-0 to a local rival and then have to be penned in for 30 mins after the game in the rain and freezing cold was that i was penned in by the burger van opposite the club shop. Hopefully the club do not see last seasons operation as a 'success', sadly I think even some of the season ticket holders that have renewed would have been put off for this game and will stay away.
I despair sometimes. Its perfectly simple with Millwall, you just fire fireworks up in the air and that distract them long enough for the Charlton to get home. Has anyone not seen Dawn of the dead?
I guess the statement that the bar in the lower north and Bartrams will remain open after the match is an indication of their thinking. It surely is not beyond the wit for them to realise that it is better to get the larger numbers dispersed quickly, although giventhe way they treated us all last year if they decide to hold us all in this year, the Jimmy Seed may be the bigger numbers.
I think iss shockin n a real let dahn for all the fans there if they change it! Gotta let ourn aht first! Juss lookin t'ward gettin dahn your grahnd agen n thas all there is to it
On a serious note for a minute, what happened last season in Harvey Gardens reflected very badly on the club IMO. I hope the officials responsible get off their knees this season and use their influence, if Millwall can influence the police decision then so can we. You don't punish the overwhelming majority..including the elderly and the disabled...just to give the Millwall fans more time to leave the ground to get to their ambush destinations.
