QPR`s performance in the last two league games has been rather impressive, with a slick passing style forming akin to the much-praised Swansea. It seems that Rangers are beginning to form an identity in terms of a playing style, something that hasn`t been noticeable for a while. Impressively, Rangers boast the highest possession figures so far this season, averaging 58.55% in games. Possession football if coupled with a potent attack can be lethal at any level and Rangers are starting to look a decent outfit with the likes of Charlie Austin hitting form and the emergence of Niko Kranjcar as a creative force. In the last two home matches, the R`s created a number of chances, tested the opposition goalkeeper more often and as a result of this they scored more goals; simple game really. It still feels like there is a little more to come from this current side and I maintain that a team will be on the end of a thrashing once everything clicks into gear. I think most would`ve agreed that Steve Lomas was a surprise replacement for Kenny Jackett this summer, especially because of his previous association with West Ham and fairly limited experience as a manager. The Lions didn`t start well at all and failed to win any of their first six league matches. However, a 3-1 win over Blackpool sparked a run of three consecutive victories, although it was short lived as they have lost their last two matches, conceding nine in the process. Defensively, Lomas` side are vulnerable - two clean sheets and 23 goals against will be an incentive for Austin and co to really attack a back four disrupted by injury and suspension. Den atmosphere ‘not like it used to be’ says QPR boss Redknapp QPR manager Harry Redknapp 18/10/2013 By West London Sport QPR manager Harry Redknapp insists his players will not be fazed by the notoriously hostile atmosphere at The Den when they face Millwall. Rangers head to south London looking to maintain their unbeaten Championship record and return to the top of the table. And Redknapp, who has spent much of his career with Millwall’s arch-rivals West Ham, says he does not expect to be given a hard time by Lions fans. He said: “I didn’t go there too often with West Ham as they were always in a different division. “I’ve been there before with Portsmouth and they [Millwall fans] were as good as gold. They’re characters over there. I’ve never had a problem.” And Redknapp believes Millwall’s current ground, which has been their home since 1993, does not have anything like the intimidating affect on opposing teams as the old Den did. He explained: “The first professional match I ever saw was at the old Den with my dad. “My dad used to go there quite regularly between going to Arsenal and other matches that were on in London. “It’s not like it used to be. The old Den was something else. It’s not so bad now. “You look at the players we have; Benoit Assou-Ekotto has played in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, Niko Kranjcar has played for Croatia in Turkey and played in play-off games. “They’ve been there in intimidating atmospheres – and Joey Barton has been intimidating people for years.”
Great pre-match write up. This is fast becoming a main attraction for this Board. Just to add, their Keeper is very decent. He played against Germany last week and got MOTM with a string of outstanding saves. I was on their Board earlier and the bloke says Shi*tu is crap this year; overweight and not at the races at all. Redknapp's instructions should be to keep it on the floor and run at him as I think our attacking players could roast him tomorrow.
Cheers Sword's. When you compare the line-ups there is no comparison. We should be 'up and at em' from the off. But there's a little bit of me that can see that this can be like QPR v Chelsea 23rd October 2011. Don't take the bait Joey.
In their last two home games Millwall has beaten Leeds 2-0 and Blackpool 3-1. Those who believe this should be another easy three pointer might choke on their tea and bisquits tomorrow.
I'll be kicking the wife and kids and cats around the house Norway. Biscuits don't even come close pal!
Quite likely the case at the Den, so continuing the food theme, we should definitely not be expecting a cake-walk. Although Millwall seemed to have turned their early season poor form around, their last two away losses were quite emphatic, 5-2 at Bournemouth after holding a 2-0 lead, and 4-0 at Birmingham. We should be able to take advantage of their obvious defensive frailties and grab a few goals ourselves in this game.
