Just thought I'd get some views, I'd play Miller everytime. Once he gets a goal I think he could fire us into the play-offs.
Truthfully? Miller to start,Earnie definitely on the bench.Would like to see Darcy start today and Kev on the bench.
Got to stick with Miller/Mason combo. They can both run and keep running until the end - Earnie can't do that, it's not his game. As a sub for the last 20 minutes if we need him would do for me. I wouldn't start him.
I want the fans to see 90 minutes of Earnie so that this debate will be over for ever. Don't they remember how people were almost laughing at his performances before Xmas? If he's on I'm going to count the number of offsides he can get in 45 minutes.
I'd go for Miller everytime, his movement and work off the ball is soooooooo much better than Earnie. I don't think you can blame him at the moment for not scoring he's not getting any decent service from midfield. If he does go deep and get the ball then there's no one moving into the space for him to pass it to. I would defo start Conway on Wednesday we seemed to have more width when he came on. I would start McPhail aswell which would allow Whitts to get further forward and pick out the through ball to Miller.
Miller is a better option, and if Rudy develops a little over summer they could be a great combination. Earnie needed more games early on, but now it would be too much to expect him to come in and fire in a hatful.
We definitely need a target man but I feel it is too late now even for a loan player. 9 games left bit too late for me
Miller no question and if Rudy was fit Earnie wouldn't make the bench. I hope that next season the Championship reverts to 7 subs. We all knew ages ago that we needed another mobile target man (Parkin not fit for purpose) and a speedy winger. I don't get that Malky has done nothing about it other than he wanted to stick with what he had and then build for next season. In the last paragraph of his programme notes yesterday he said he saw this squad seeing us through to the end of the season - or similar words to the same effect. I read that as no more loaners coming in. We need Rudy fit and back to give us some variety although thast must be the 3rd time his hamstring has gone this season. He looks awkward running more than 5/10 yards. He needs to be worked on this summer to ensure he is fully fit for next year.
Slightly off topic I know.... We're putting a new flooring down in our kitchen and underneath the current stuff is old newspaper as underlay. I pulled out a back page story about the manager not wanting people to put too much pressure on an 18 year old Earnie and he's not our saviour (after a good performance - I forget against who as I think someone binned it). Lots of relegation talk too. Sadly on the front page attached was a story about riots after the match. I guess the point I'm trying to make is that I miss the old Earnie
miller or earnie.... well its obvious earnie needs to play in a 442, so you would have to change the team around to accomodate him....is he good enough to displace kenny? malky sees him in training so you've got to trust his judgement... some people in the media are making him a scapegoat, but as nathan blake has said in his column, he's not someone who is used to playing in a 451, though he has done the role well this season, his build up play is excellent, its just things havent gone his way in the box...maybe the penalty misses vs palace and liverpool are playing on his mind? its an awkward situation for kenny to be in, as he often isnt getting a sniff in these games but his goal drought keeps creeping up and up, its not a torres situation where he's missing gilt edged chances, he's often forced to take long shots and half chances..
Well summed up Swamp. If you put Earnie in a 4 4 2 it needs to be with someone who can win the ball in the air and with Rudy injured that would be.........................? Kenny will notch again soon and Wednesday v. Cov will be the time to start. However the rest of the team need to get their arses in gear as well. How may times did we see a lack of communication and confusion yesterday (not as bad as v. Hull) when passes went astray or players weren't moving into position? Lack of confidence results in players not commiting themselves to situations where they can do some damage and this really needs to be addressed. Also, first half in particular, how many times did we see Cowie get into a left winger's position? The guy has stamina and commitment in abundance but no pace and simply cannot take on opponents - square pegs in round holes and all that. He has reverted to the player I remember seeing for Watford against us, running around all day but to no effect. His early season success came from him playing others with more pace into those situations, e.g. Conway who must start v. Cov. While his crossing is not great although he put in one great cross yesterday he brings some pace and will attack defenders thus putting them under pressure - something we have not done recently. Kenny will benefit from his inclusion also. Personally I would drop Lawrence to sub and possibly revert to the 4 5 1 (with Mason benched also to allow for McPhail to play in front of the back four and control possession). Thus allowing Whitts to push forward more and be the goal threat we know.
No but he could do with a benniefactor or an angel. Couldn't get Two Ton Ted from Teddington in there. I'll get me coat.
