Getting slightly concerned about the amount of game time he is getting. Don’t want him to burn out. He should really be an impact sub but needs must.
He’s done fantastic but he’s also been involved in our worst run in our most recent history. Hes a player who has soooo much potential but really needs out the team for his confidence. He plays the next few games and we lose then he’s gonna be confidence shot. I don’t see any leaders on the pitch protecting him either.
He's been really good. He does need resting though to be fair. I'd like to think he has realised he's performed at a high level and our losing performances won't dent his confidence. We haven't lost because of him.
It does remind me a bit of when Sean Longstaff came in and initially formed a productive midfield partnership with Isaac Hayden (not even making that up, our results were good). It didn't last though of course and his form got dragged down by poor players and a poorly performing team. It took him years to get back to those levels and we need to ensure Miley gets some protection from over-expectation and reliance.
Does it actually say anywhere how long the contract is for? Everything I've seen just quotes 'long-term'.
Honestly, Longstaff would literally be the first player I'd try and sell. Howe won't, but he's a pure profit play, Miley's a lot better, and I'd imagine Joe White's not far behind either. With Willock returning we could make good money from selling him. Would be happier if we sold Wilson, Targett, Longstaff and Almiron, binned off Hayden, Hendrick, Ritchie and spent that money.
There's also Elliot Anderson that everyone keeps forgetting about. Miley, Anderson and White could see us with a local midfield back up for years.
