I think the club has been 'up for sale' ever since the first time he said he was selling it, it's just that he wants a certain price and nobody would have paid it. He's been keeping the club very lean and I've assumed that was because he's trying to make it more attractive to potential investors. Then you've got his Sky Sports interview which some took to be him advertising the club was up for sale and trimming the fat from the wage bill over the summer, not to mention Justin Barnes being brought in. I guess someone will come along eventually, especially if what they are saying about the TV revenue going up massively again in 2019 is true. Is it good news if he sells up? Who knows? Just depends on who is buying; there are lots of **** owners out there with zero knowledge of how to successfully run a football club.
All the talk of the big cash during the summer has to relate to this - I think MA expected to have sold the club before now and that the talks of Chinese investment was on the cards hence people going on about us having big wads of cash and the initial promises made to Rafa. If MA does sell it I hope to my many gods that it is to someone with integrity and not a leech. Or worse a chicken Venkys.
So just like the bloke that owns us at the moment then. Ill take my chances with a new owner all day long. Ashley has clearly stated that he has zero interest in the club and is not putting any more money in ................... added to the fact he seems to delight in making a twat of experienced football people. The sooner he sells up and ****s off and his tatty SD logo is removed from SJP the better.
Fair enough. The club's not particularly badly run these days though. The thought of getting someone like those Hull owners or the Venkys, or Ellis Short for that matter makes the arse a bit twitchy. I agree though that it's probably best all round that Ashley sells up.
Not sure how many of those still exist when it comes to buying clubs mind, Hull the latest 6 year ago. I think the omens are good for anyone but Ashley.
Do you not know what a non-disclosure agreement means - duh! All I can say is I 'have heard' rumours about a fan of the club based out in this part of the world who is putting together a syndicate. The main investor is a North Korean individual Kim Jong-un. Apparently he is a long standing fan of the club, a keen admirer of Mike Ashley. He has said he will go ballistic if the deal doesn't go through. The FA has already said that he would pass the fit and proper persons test on the grounds that he is less evil than Mike Ashley.
It's a no brainer for any fuka coming in... Back the manager a little stay in the league you'll make even more money.
Do people even buy football clubs anymore? So many better wastes of money. When was the last instagram rich kid with a footballer sat on his lap, rather than a stunning lass? What's the point in free advertising at a stadium if people despise your brand for it? A businessman would never buy one as a profitable venture...
To put money in to buy players would be like flushing money down the toilet (or betting on Newcastle to finish in the top 4 this season). It will never be seen again. I have zero idea about Chelsea and Man City's finances but I'd like to bet their owners haven't made any money. Football clubs are the play things of the mega rich, or at least successful ones are.
abramovic was the start of the decline of the epl in my view ....i would still rather have a fair game than a mega rich owner any day
Manchester city's investment group has ate up plenty of clubs now and are creating a brand identity. It will be a bit like horse racing, clubs are investing billions into youth development centres. You take kids, make them decent footballers, sell them.
Somewhat but I think I prefer the 5/6 teams competing in roughly similar money. Basically it was Manure and whoever else could afford to match them for a a few year until Abrahmovic. We (perhaps rightfully) moan there's no financial parity anymore, yet a Leicester happened And we're guna win it this year
