Let the apologists form an orderly queue, but like a harbinger of doom I present....

    http://www.nufc.co.uk/articles/20150624/where-theres-a-will-theres-a-way_2281670_4817412

An official Mike Williamson NUFC interview, published on the club's website, where Mike tells us all he feels he still has so much to give to the club!!!!!!

Couldn't make it up. Genuinely, I think the club are trying to wind us all up.

    They're not winding me up....

As he's under contract and not much chance of selling him on, he'll be here next season.
So best get used to the idea. <ok>

But why fcking advertise it?!?!! It literally makes no sense at all. The fcking clown publishing the article can pick 30 players including young 'uns, and MUST be aware that most NUFC fans believe Willo to be less effective as a footballer than his namesake Willow (Warwick Davis to our younger readers) would be.

Does it seriously matter or make any difference that they've put up an article on Williamson.
Really, who the **** cares, other than the man himself?

The simple fact remains that unless another club signs him, he'll be part of the squad for 15/16 and will play games.
McClaren has two choices, he can either let Williamson stew in the **** that was last season or try and the most of what he's got and if that means building up the confidence of players such as Williamson, so what, it's not doing any harm as far as I can see.

If in the meantime he ****s off elsewhere, than everyone's a winner.

Ok, forgetting all opinion on Mike and your fairly rational comments, I'd point to two things:

    1) By showcasing an interview with Mike Williamson - who has in effect contributed to some often shocking defensive performances and even gone so far as to be accused of being deliberately sent off - it shows an utter, abject lack of comprehension as to the ill feeling towards the club. It's simply so ignorant and misguided as to boggle the mind. I understand what you're saying, but is it so much to ask for a Media department to be somewhat aware of the feeling towards certain individual players and simply avoid trying to "big them up"? Mike's confidence, if it needs rebuilding, could/should be done behind the scenes, what's an interview going to achieve? We have the same three defenders for 5 years, the worst defense in the division, and the only one we all, to a man, desperately want to see gone is doing a fcking interview with the club. It's inept beyond all reasoning.

    2) There is no way on God's green earth Mike Williamson should be in the Premier League next season, let alone still at the club. Fact.

‘I will always back my ability and back myself to play’.

It's a good job he backs his ability because no other ****er is.

Sometimes I could blind myself with quicklime in hatred, I really could.

If this appears on the club webshite then it is propaganda. It is the thought control department trying to soften us up for the fact that he will be here next season despite every fan knowing he's not up to the job. Why would there be an interview with Mike Williamson (or any player) if we were trying to sell him? It wouldn't happen.

Probably to make it look like he is eager to stay and push his price up a bit. Or maybe the rest of them are all on exotic holidays around the world but Mike has just got back from his annual holiday with his mum and dad in a caravan in Redcar so he was the only one available.

Williamson is no less an asset then any of our other defenders except Janmaat.

You cannot make an argument that Saylor, Colo, Dummett are better than him based on their performances and injury records over the last year or so.

I don't think Williamson is good enough but I'm ****ing sick of players like him taking most of the flack where as other players like Colo have their arses sucked simply because they are crowd favourites.

Oh Coloccini has been **** recently and become injury prone and has had himself sent off for stupid reasons. Saylor is crock and puts in about 50 minutes a season, plus gets himself sent off and also handles the ball, but he pumps his fist to the crowd and all is forgive because he's a "cracking local bloke".

    Dummett is just ****.

I fail to see how Williamson should be the first out of the door when he's been no less **** than anyone except Janmaat over the last 12-18 months.

If you want to call him **** then scroll through the squad and see the several other players that have had attitude and/or performance issues as well. Dont' just pick on individuals like Willo.

Willo comes across as a lovely guy buy as a defender he fills me with dread when he touches the ball.
He is consistently bad whereas our other defenders at least have a few purple patches to look back on and say 'look.. that's what I can do'.
I wish Willo well but his time at our club is up.

On Dummett, I rate him highly and he is still developing don't forget.
He'll never be the first name on the team sheet but he is a Geordie, versatile and gives 100%. I see him as a versatile squad player along the lines of how Hughes or Watson used to be assessed.
He has a connection with the fans, evidenced by the fact that he was stood 6 foot away from me at Hull Away this year cheering the lads on.

Personally I don't rate any of defenders except Janmaat, and even he has plenty to improve upon defensively. Willo is the worst of the bunch along with Haidara. They are not footballers. Dummett is versatile but I'm just no convinced he is good enough. Saylor is a write off. Colo has regressed at an alarming rate and just doesn't seem to care enough.

Lascelles and Satka I think you have to give them a chance.

I've got nothing but respect for Willo. If the rest of our squad gave a **** as much as he does, and put the effort in he does, we'd be a lot better off. However it does not detract from the fact he is utter gash and belongs in the Championship or League 1. He was decent back up 5 years ago. Just like Colo was good 5 years ago and Saylor was still worth seeing if he could put his injuries behind him. Unfortunately 5 years is a long long time in football, and it hasn't been kind to any of these lads. Its time to move on and overhaul.
